Etikett Radio is Catalyst’s student-run radio station, showcasing the resident talents of our creative community. Our platform reaches the ears and hearts of local and global communities, providing our student creators with a public platform in which to express, experiment and evolve.

Spanning DJ sets to live performances to podcasts, Etikett's diverse programme features over 30 shows – a melting pot of trailblazing music and sound from Catalyst’s students, alumni and team members. Broadcasting from our legendary location at Berlin’s Funkhaus, once home to the GDR’s radio station, our eclectic roster of student presenters continue the legacy of the renowned artists who have recorded here.

Etikett Radio was founded in 2014, a year after the official launch of Catalyst. Catalyst is a unique creative-production learning community based at the extraordinary Funkhaus facility. Our courses span electronic music production and performance, audio and music production, sound engineering, filmmaking, screenwriting, visual effects, digital arts and acting. They range from bachelor's and master's degree courses through to four-week summer courses for beginners, validated by our UK partner institution Plymouth Marjon University.

Using immersive, hands-on, project-based learning to develop your subject specialist skills, real-world human attributes and industry know-how, we provide a learning experience which will transform your daily life and practice.

Vee Mukarati is an award winning Zimbabwean singer, saxophonist,composer and producer. His music is a mixture of jazz, soul and afro-grooves influenced by experiences of growing up in the complex socio-political atmosphere of Zimbabwe as well as traveling the world. He writes and sings compelling songs in three languages, Shona, Ndebele and English. He is a graduate of the renowned Berkelee Jazz and Contemporary Music program offered at Newpark Music Centre in Dublin, Ireland and currently lives in Switzerland.

Vee started learning the clarinet at age 10 under the classical instruction of Professor Mitchell Strumpf. At age 15, as a member of the Prince Edward School Jazz Band, saxophone became his prime instrument and it was at this point that he discovered jazz and improvisational music.He went on to study jazz and contemporary music in Ireland and after the completion of his studies in 2014, aged 26,he moved back home to live in Harare. While there he set off his solo career and quickly established himself as an innovator in the competitive capital city's entertainment scene. He is an avid collaborator who is not bound by any genre and has collaborated with artists and DJs in studio and on stages across Southern Africa and Europe including Oliver Mtukudzi (ZW), Mokoomba (ZW), Namvula (ZAM), Jamaram (GER),Baron Retif and Conception Perez (FR), Hope Masike (ZW),Jason le Roux and Giovani Agostini(IRL). 

In August 2017 his self produced album "Nyamavhuvhu Night Sounds" was internationally released under his independent record label, Primrose Records. Following it's release it was awarded a Zimbabwe National Arts Merit Award, the highest artistic accolade in the country,for the music video to the song 'Over Again' directed by Vee  Mukarati and produced in collaboration with renowned painter Helen Teede.

In mid 2018, Vee Mukarati moved to Geneva, Switzerland. He has since released two singles, "Booty Call" in November 2018 and an impassioned rendition of The Beatles classic "Blackbird", released in December 2018.

Born in the USA I moved, when I was six years old, to the UK. The transition into a completely alien education system was challenging and it took me a while to settle in and adjust. So when I was praised by an early music teacher as showing ‘potential’ I grabbed onto this, and began following a musical path that has led me to where I am today, back in the US and studying at a school that I’ve wanted to attend since I was in my early teens.

My passion for composition has hugely increased as a result of the techniques I’ve learnt from my teachers and peers. My ambition is to perform my work with my own groups and ensembles.  I have recently been writing compositions for string quintets, learning about writing for horn sections and big bands, and producing work for my own promotion.

Michele Guidi (aka Mecco) is a unique keyboard player, especially known in 
the music world for his unmistakable style with the Hammond organ.
Throughout his life, inspired by his inexhaustible passion for music, Mecco 
has explored an impressive variety of musical trends. 
Thanks to his extensive knowledge and exposure, he can skilfully and 
effortlessly shift in between genres. Soul in the right hand and groove in the 
left one, Mecco stands out for his ability to professionally perform anything 
from classic to modern and everything in between, enhancing each time the 
sounds with personal taste and technique.
