The organ is an instrument that first impresses with its majestic appearance, its material. It is a sophisticated and complex body (the instrument itself) inside a specific and predetermined space (the body of the building). But similar to a human body, the organ needs air in order to create a new quality. A quality that sounds through the space giving structure to the relationship between frequencies and time. A body that breathes and invites the listener to be a part of it. Sharing its air in an ephemeral moment.

During the time I was writing this piece, the need of air, regarding the outside world, was very present. It is even more now. The iconic phrase from the dystopian film Total Recall became an urgent appeal: “Give these people air”!
