Joel embarked on his DJ journey a decade ago at the iconic Scratch DJ Academy in New York City, learning and cultivating his skills with influential local turntablists. From there, he quickly made waves in Brooklyn's underground scene, refining his sound and movement behind the decks.

As he continued to captivate crowds, his reputation grew,leading to opportunities in renowned music hubs such as New York City,Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Paris, Colombia, and Ibiza. His international experiences have enriched his musical sensibilities, allowing him to create electric atmospheres and undeniable connections between himself and his diverse audiences.

Since 2020, Tulum (MX) has been his home, where he continues to elevate dance floors by spinning records he truly feels. His dynamic journey and commitment to excellence have solidified him as a sought-after DJ in the global music community.

3 QUESTIONS to PAJI:

Q: Talking about your mix: From “Barbers Adagio For Strings” to electronic beats from the past 15 years. How did you meet the bass?

A: My musical roots lie in classical music because i got classically trained and was also always interested in oriental instruments and folklore due to my upbringing. I later discovered my love for electronic music / deep beats and quickly realised that there are actually similarities between classical music and electronic music. Both genres really take their time and put their listeners on a journey. I just put 2 and 2 together and started combining the elements things that i loved. 

Q: Playing the violin is an outstanding feature in your live-performances. How did you got in touch with the instrument once and what does it still mean to you?

A: I got introduced to the instrument as a young kid. A close family friend would always play the violin on family get togethers. I was amazed by the sounds and would always ask him tons of questions about it. My father caught on to the interest and soon I had my own Violin along with lessons. And to this day I just never got tired of it, I honestly get restless if I don’t get to play for more than a few days.

Q: We heard there is a new album coming soon? Tell us more

A: I’m putting all my focus on finishing my very first LP, to be released early this year. I got to collaborate with amazing talent and am just filled with excitement in anticipation of sharing new music. It’s gonna have a lot of new elements that people might not expect from me but for sure It has that typical Paji imprint that has been with me over the past 5 years.

With an initiative to connect purpose and place, he has humbly joined the team of Art With Me (Tulum) as Executive Producer. His personal ethos and musical curations prove just this: “Greatness can only come from knowing the fine balance of our limitations and walking that edge with unwavering confidence and conviction. The more we experience that edge, the better we become.”
