Rick B (Rick Bonetti) former resident at Angels in Burnley from 1991 – 1996.
From Manchester, England, and currently residing in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Rick started his Djing career in 1989 with his first set of Technics belt drive turntables and a bag full of vinyl records. At the time Rick was a regular shopper at “Beat Street Records” in Bolton and ‘Spinin Records” in Manchester where he was fortunate to meet Marcus (Intalex) who at the time was a resident Dj at ‘Vision’ the hugely popular Friday night being held at Angels, through Marcus Rick was invited to play on one of the Friday ‘Vision’ nights, after playing his set Rick was invited back the following week to play his selection of early 90s house and Italian Piano prior to Paul Taylor taking over for the main set.
This is where the story began, from Friday night at ‘Vision” Rick started to play every Saturday night at Angels and was instilled as the permanent resident alongside Paul Taylor when the now legendary RETRO night started.
Rick has been involved in some renowned nights at Angels including the 20th Birthday with Paul Oakenfold and Carl Cox, the first ever appearance of Sasha at Angels to name but a few, Rick has also released the hugely popular Delight series of mixes.
Sadly, in 1996 Rick left Angels to set up Federation in Blackpool, a weekly event that ran for five years showcasing the very best house DJs from around the world including Fathers of Sound, Sasha, Graeme Park, Jeremy Healy, Steve Lawler and Carl Cox.
In 2000, Federation ended and Rick headed back to Manchester to set up Substance at North nightclub. From Substance Rick then went on to be a resident Dj at Emporia and was involved in a number of nights around the Manchester area.
Today, 28 years from picking up his first bag of vinyl, Rick finds himself located in Abu Dhabi still involved in the ever-evolving music scene. Rick continues to play for the likes of Ministry of Sound, Soul Heaven and HedKandi since his move from the UK, enjoying his time in the UAE’s vibrant music scene.
