I had the pleasure of being able to play at Big Dub Music Festival for the second year in a row and last year i forgot to record my set/mix. So this year I made sure I didnt forget. I closed down the HI Score stage at 3am Thursday night and I was lucky in where I was the only artist playing on the mountain. It was a dream to be able to do that. I've been working on this one for a couple months now and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did playing it!

James Michael Blake, otherwise known as Fade Runner, is a DJ/producer specializing in a genre he's coined as "Laser Funk".  By blending retro and modern synth funk, house, Bass, uptempo sampled based beats, Hip Hop and electronic music, he creates infectious and addictive dance floor vibes that make it almost impossible not to groove to. Known for his high energy behind the decks and positivity, he is quickly becoming a staple in the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia) dance music scene.

After a baseball injury in high school, James got his start producing hip hop beats when a friend showed him FL Studio to help pass the time during recovery. He quickly fell in love with the process and not long after, got his first set of DJ decks.  Over the years he honed his craft and eventually booked his debut show with Pretty Lights Family artist Eliot Lipp. He added 2 close friends to play bass and guitar over his beats and from there the Jamtronica act "Definition of One" (Def One for short) was born.

Over the next few years, Definition of One traveled all over the east coast playing festivals and venues. The band landed gigs with acts such as Minnesota, Moon Hooch, the Disco Biscuits drummer Allen Aucoins project Dr. Fameus (who sat in with the band multiple nights), G Nome Project, ELM, Deltanine and many more. They built a loyal fan base and following and toured constantly through the years. In 2019, James left the group to begin work on his solo act at the time known as Hydra.

After changing his name one final time, 2020 marked the beginning of Fade Runner. He has teamed up with local music artist Jon Eye to create the collective Lucid District and he is also a member of East Coast Bass Mafia with DJs Dr. Psilicon and Already Dead. He has performed numerous times at the Space Barn in Middleburz!g VA with the band The Atlantic Aesthetic as well as creating festivals there such as Wonky Wonderland and Fam Farm 1.  His current project is designed to be funky, fun, easily accessible and an all around great time to dance.  The future looks bright for Fade Runner and he is one DJ you should be sure not to miss!
