You know the saying. The cream rises to the top? There are some key members of the Dj and collector community that get recognized more and more as time goes on. Not only for their knowledge about electronic music and their taste in tunes but also their no-frills attitude and focus on DJing as a whole. Estimulo is one of those handful. A former member of the futura event agency and DJ crew from Berlin with a desire to also release music as a label owner with Mixomat Recordings. Heavily passionate about radio since a being young child has led to many variations of shows dedicated to the music he supports and follows. Most recently, a weekly Radio Show (EstimuloShow @ mixomat.org since 2007, also on Cashmere Radio since 2017) kept him busy. Having played many key clubs throughout Europe while sharing the nightly bills with a who's who's list of some of the best underground names in house and techno isn't a surprise. As a DJ, Estimulo is more in tune with the deeper and soulful side of things. He approaches mixing uniquely with no pre-planned mixes favoring an expression of honesty and desire to play what he wants versus a goal of perfect but often stale mixing. Lately, he has taken to many streaming platforms DJing live with other hardcore music aficionados in marathon long mixing sessions. To say Estimulo contributes to every facet of the electronic music community would be an understatement. Search out some recent interviews with him to get more in depth with his extensive background and future plans. With some 30 years' worth of experience, knee deep into the sound of the underground, you can expect his selections to impress even the die-hards. I've been thinking about this artist mix for a while and settled down to it following the release of Dimensional Space.    This mix follows an interpretation of more 'beatless & ambient' soundscapes, "Ice Stars Sunlight" recorded about 5 years ago using CDj's.

This year they join lempuyang with a forthcoming remix, and a track for the next annual V/A 'Pura' compilation

LPY Mix Series 12 - Merv

Optimo is JG Wilkes & JD Twitch; record label, and longstanding Glaswegian party. You can expect a lot from their new monthly slot, sure to dig up some obscurities from post-punk, new wave, EBM, house and techno. Bags of unreleased stuff, too.

For almost 20 years, James Steer has consistently and unassumingly contributed to the after-hours soundtrack of Melbourne. Well respected within the underground Melbourne DJ community, James has built a reputation as a selector who deftly balances exquisite taste with technical execution. James cut his teeth as one of the founders of the legendary Deep Chord Melbourne parties in the early noughties, showcasing the emerging deep minimal sounds of the time to an eager and receptive audience. The party started off as an intimate affair in the confines of the upstairs space of Pony Bar (later Boney), before finding a true home in the legendary basement space of the Mercat Cross. Since then, James has regularly graced the decks at some of Melbourne’s most iconic nightspots, equally adept at delivering funk and disco laden suppertime soundtracks as heaving excursions into deep dance floor dynamics. Drawing from a vast, genre-defying collection, James’ sets offer the listener/dancer a guided tour through the fundamentals of depth, always evolving and never stagnant, a glimpse into the now, with a respectful nod to what’s come before.
