Very excited to have a new mix for the Yeah Nah cast and this time it comes from a DJ I connected with during lockdown over the interwebs and we also share dinner set duties at Revolver from time to time. It wasn't long until we discovered each others taste really locked in with each other. I love that Dave Mack flipped the approach to the yeah nah series by serving up an up tempo house workout which glides through many shades and vibes. Picture the scene; a small warehouse inner northern suburbs party. The warm up disco DJ (that's me) has been playing the early summer evening set.
It's now 11:30pm. The main act, a house and techno DJ, doesn't show. The hosts ask the warm up if he can jump back on. 
It's the peak time set. It's his dream come true. He pulls out his laptop and selects the crate titled “bangerz”. 
Two hours and 15 mins later he leaves the decks as a buzzed up sweaty mess. He doesn't go to bed until 10am the next day.

For almost 20 years, James Steer has consistently and unassumingly contributed to the after-hours soundtrack of Melbourne. Well respected within the underground Melbourne DJ community, James has built a reputation as a selector who deftly balances exquisite taste with technical execution. James cut his teeth as one of the founders of the legendary Deep Chord Melbourne parties in the early noughties, showcasing the emerging deep minimal sounds of the time to an eager and receptive audience. The party started off as an intimate affair in the confines of the upstairs space of Pony Bar (later Boney), before finding a true home in the legendary basement space of the Mercat Cross. Since then, James has regularly graced the decks at some of Melbourne’s most iconic nightspots, equally adept at delivering funk and disco laden suppertime soundtracks as heaving excursions into deep dance floor dynamics.
