This song was written by Steve on the acoustic guitar. He passed it along to Ken, who added a sturdy rhythm acoustic guitar, as well as his always solid, dynamic drums to it. In short order, Ken got the rest of the Eclectic Collective together on it, starting with Josh, who added his five string fretless bass to complete the rhythm section. Next up was JJ, who's keys, both organ and piano, can be heard livening the whole thing up. Then came Tez with his fiery ripping guitar fills. 
  We were all blown away, though, when Stephen added his equally ripping guitar fills as responses to Tez's parts. It really sounds like the two maestros are having a conversation. Not to be outdone, Chris sprinkled some of his magical guitar to fill in the spaces, mostly at the beginning. 
  Of course, we needed a competent producer to pull the whole thing together for us, especially with all the different voices in the stew. That person was Stephen, who was able to wrangle all of us and make it sound coherent, like the expert producer he is. 
  We all really enjoy working on Steve's songs, although it's been a few months since we did one together.  It's been proven many times before that if,you start out with something good, and you end up with some thing great. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

Hope We Ever Meet (Eclectic Collective)

A small tribute to Hemingway's masterpiece The Old Man and the Sea. An intro depicts the drama of a fisherman not caughting a fish for 84 days. The melodic pianoforte theme is Santiago going out  anyway (00:50), then the encounter with the marlin (from around 1:33 to 2:30), then the shark arrival. Finally (from 3:09) Santiago coming back.

James is a multi-instrumentalist creator of music as well as a contemporary artist. He plays stringed instruments (guitars, cello, ukulele, bass, etc.) and uses a midi controller for any instruments he doesn't have access to; such as a timpani or a glockenspiel.

James creates music that is inspired by the pure love and joy of making music. The style of music he creates varies from piece to piece. He will go from songs that are accompanied by guitar or ukulele to full arrangements of a traditional North American band to orchestral scores that you could easily hear backing a film or video. 

By browsing his music you're likely to come across traditional pieces of music sounding as old as time and other pieces sounding as new as yesterday's jingle. 

Instruments inspire him to make new sounds come together to form music and combining old and new sounds is something he very much enjoys exploring.

While music and sounds are a big part of James' personality so is making art, graphics, and videos. James has worked professionally as a technical illustrator/graphics specialist since 1991. So James almost always creates art specifically for each piece of music he puts out into the world. The art may or may not be directly related to the piece of music in context but it will definitely give you another perspective on how the music has inspired him or makes him feel.
