James Avent is a folk singer-songwriter from Melbourne Australia. Known for his 'story telling' style, he has a real ability to draw his listener in - both musically and emotionally.

Always passionate, James has a bag of songs that take an audience on a rollercoaster ride - some make you want to get up and dance while some make you want to cry - all make you want to listen.

His upbbeat songs are a reflection of his personality - being a naturally happy person - while his more sombre tunes represent some of the adversity he's come through. James lost his father when he was only 17 and his mother at 23 - sending him into a whirlwind of angst, confusion and sorrow. Using his music as a beacon of hope and identity, James plays as much for his audience as he does himself, resulting in music that is above all - honest.
