2020 is set to be another great year for James Ruskin as he opens Blueprint’s release schedule with a stunning new EP.

Looking back over 2019, the year saw Ruskin release ‘Reality Broadcast Off’ - his first new solo EP in 5 years which gained Resident Advisor “Recommends” and one of Groove’s “Records of The Week”, among other media accolades that summer. It was followed by the re-mastered reissue of his seminal ‘Point 2’ album on Tresor as well as a new release for them entitled ‘Siklikal EP’ in November, while his tight DJing skills continued to take him around the globe reaching most of Europe as well as further afield to the likes of Colombia and Japan.

His ‘Consumer Patterns EP’ due for release at the end of January once again shows James Ruskin deliver true diligence with three cuts of inspiring techno, from the title track which offers a duality of stormy techno meets experimental sound design, via the more linear groove of ‘Social Acceptance’ to the tranquillity of ‘Weakness of the System’.

Lao Chi (aka Lix Method) is first and foremost a bedroom turntablist, and a vinyl enthusiast and collector.  He is secondly an intimate-venue/crowd DJ.

Most proficient with 3-turntable setups and particularly fond of Digital Vinyl Systems (DVS) such as Traktor Scratch and Serato; he does not underestimate the prevalence of the CDJ and has learned to adapt.  

Lao Chi's ultimate goal is to keep perfecting his own personal take on the art of audio montage; by juxtaposing and mixing elements of several diverse records together, weaving them into intricate and extended sonic tapestries driven by dynamism and flow, and characterized by strong elements of structure which allow for the listener/dancer to experience a unique/unforgettable journey, ideally without having to sacrifice the subversive joys of transitioning between different genres and alternating energies and moods. 

He sees this creative (and recreative) process of consistent propulsion towards unattainable perfection as ongoing, evolutionary and never-ending, and as an end in itself.  

Lao Chi is also in love with hip-hop and has been, through the years, influenced by a variety of artists ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Aphex Twin, via Meat Beat Manifesto.
