Globally acclaimed talent Shingo Nakamura recently released his "Only Silk 02" compilation on parent label Silk Digital, featuring his original track "The Four". On Silk Royal's latest single, we're thrilled to present a new remix of this cut by Sundriver, another of our imprint's most decorated veterans. He has been writing euphoric, often Balearic-tinged progressive for the better part of a decade and looks forward to an exciting 2014, with several standout remixes arriving in the new few months alone. For the second track in the release, we've invited fellow progressive trance craftsman Talamanca, a first-time contributor to Silk, to remix Shingo's classic "Sapporo". Talamanca, like Sundriver, has enjoyed wonderful radio support in his career on some of the world's leading trance-centered radio shows.

Sundriver's remix of "The Four" asserts itself right out of the gate, with a driving rhythm, while uplifting pads and arps begin to infiltrate the mid-range. By the quarter turn, a symphony of melodic elements has conspired to overpower the listener with a lush and emotive soundscape. Yet, the track highlight does not occur until the break, when we are truly swept away by a light breakbeat, coupled with a mellifluous, Ibiza-influenced guitar riff. The stunning drop to follow features all of the melodic layers in harmonic unison.

Dutch talent Talamanca also starts his remix of "Sapporo" in driving fashion. We are soon met by several of the original's most memorable themes. Talamanca succeeds in making this interpretation his own by contributing numerous new variations on the lead motifs, all of which are truly breath-taking. In the main break, a powerful, trance-influenced lead is introduced, giving his take a bit of extra muscle for the dancefloor.

Working with Ellie Goulding was such a pleasure. She has one of those voices that is so clearly recognizable and unique. I finished this track while I was on tour with Krewella last year so at the time I really wanted to make a song that would be fun to play live. Its really nice to finally have it out so I won't be the only one singing it during shows anymore :)

Melodic Progressions 16: Dave Pineda - Nueva Radio Show July 2013

Born and raised in Paris, Raphaël first took interest in music production at the age of 16, finding musical influence in the hip hop and lounge genres. Over time he began to explore the more electronic side of music, finding inspiration through artists such as Mango and Dinka, which eventually led him in the direction of producing melodic and progressive house. Once finding his stride, he soon decided on the alias of James Woods, a simple combination of two names that have stuck with Raphaël over the years and seemed a fitting alias to go by, thus James Woods was born. Releasing his first track in March of 2011, James quickly began signing new productions, gaining a solid amount of followers and support in what most would consider a short amount of time, thus firmly establishing himself in the progressive house community. Since March of 2011, James has had over 50 releases on multiple different labels, spreading his signature melodic sound far and wide to all corners of the world. Currently James’ true signature sound lies within the progressive house genre, delivering a strong trademark style that delves deep into the melodic and emotional aspects of this universal genre. On top of his passion for progressive house. With so much amazing support and so many great things on the rise for this amazing talent, it’s not hard to see why James Woods is a name that many recognize as a leading purveyor of quality melodic sounds  in the progressive house community.
