I had two things on my mind writing these lyrics ~ memories of working in a hotel in London when the chef set up a wooden chopping board at the far end of the kitchen, and expertly threw knives at it from the other end when he got pissed off with somebody ~ and seeing all my SoundCloud friends who also regularly burn their dinners when "just nipping back" to adjust a track they are recording :-D

DIE BY MY OWN HANDS

I am currently collaborating with artist and photographer Helena Whitten and this is the first fruit of our work together.

Helena uses the technique of slow-shutter exposure to capture the beauty and fragility of life in unexpected places. In her own words, "When the shutter on a camera is left open, there is the opportunity to capture a substantial segment of time. The action is then trapped in a two-dimensional image and can be viewed in its entirety, in an instant. The shutter rises like the curtain on a stage. A drama is played out and then the curtain falls. In that time, I see an opportunity to tell a story."

"The events and figures are almost living and breathing, they want to persist in the present and into the future. But the paradox of slow-shutter work is that these figures, with their disappearing arms, legs and heads, inescapably become ethereal and ghostlike, barely there and slipping away.

This photograph was taken at Hestercombe House and is titled, "Beyond the Frame".

A warm welcome everybody to "99 Melodies by Cold Blue"! 🎶

I'm happy and excited to launch this new series for you today, covering 99 episodes for the next 12 months, sharing my new music ideas with you in a personal and direct way.
Each episode will showcase a preview of a new Cold Blue track, turned into video with beautiful locations from all around the world.
You can expect full on Trance, some slower progressive vibes and a few little excursions to other styles every now and then.

My main motivations for this challenge are:
It's just me trying to do my little bits to help all of us retaining a big wide smile in our hearts, while we're going through these rough times.
It's also a healthy routine for myself to constantly keep creating art and let out all that big mess of emotions that are adding up deep inside in that crazy era we live in.
Life on this planet is a gift, no matter how hard it can be sometimes.
Especially this year I have felt so much gratitude for all those experiences and things that I've learned everyday and I feel a strong desire to transform them into music and put them back out there with best wishes. 🙂

Let's show the world how much positive and powerful energy exists inside each of us, we just have to start to get active and do more of the things that we love doing.

Today we are starting with Episode 01 and we're about to get uplifted to the most beautiful skies right away. ☀️

99 Melodies - Episode 02

I have a lot of faith that people can be strong enough to recognize where they have done (or are doing) harm and make sincere amends. I also believe that people have the power to heal and forgive wrong doings. It takes great strength to walk together through the fire of our pains and come out the other end holding hands, recognizing and honoring our differences while acknowledging and celebrating our similarities.  

May everyone get a chance to break bread together, enjoy some wine, and share some laughs. 

Thanks again to Calebass, Jon, and Janine for joining me together on a 3rd track. We make a great team! It was really fantastic to have Chris O and Belial Pelegrim finally join a track on my page. Chris O and Belial are two SoundCloud legends in my opinion. I am so grateful to be making music with all my favorite people. If only I had more time to make music with all of my favorites on the cloud. Who knows, maybe I do!

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds. My early years began listening to music from ABC, The Beatles, The Carpenters Dire Straits Eagles Fleetwood Mac Genesis Elton John Led Zeppelin Gilbert O'Sullivan Rod Stewart Supertramp Tangerine Dream Vangelis The Who and many more.
