It's always a pleasure to be working with high flying Texas bluesman Tom Adams @tytlblues . Tom is so well known here on SoundCloud because of his ability to play and record blues classics and originals, his prolific work, his fine collaborations with serious musicians, and his spirit in following and sharing other's best music. Almost every day, his followers are treated to pure, authentic blues.  Tom knows the blues, he lives the blues, and he shares the blues.  Damn right he's got the Blues!

We had a blast pulling this together.  Its a simple blues/gospel riff on organ in F, that sets up some wonderful opportunities for heavy jams over the top by Justin and Tom, two of the finest blues players I have ever recorded with. So much fun to have musicians all over the world play together, and this jam includes three of my very favorite guitarists and musicians here on SoundCloud...Tom Adams, Ian Tait and Justin Valente.  These guys can all light up a stage, and graciously came together for this funky collaboration.  If you aren't following them all you should be - you'll be getting fresh tracks almost every day from each.  Tom and Justin are both from the US (Austin and NYC), and Ian hails from Edinburgh, Scotland.   For our Summer Funk Jam here, we started with a very funky internet backing track, allowing everyone to dig in and do their thing.  You'll recognize each of the guys' styles if you've been listening to their galleries, and together it makes for some serious Summer Funk. It's back to school time for so many and that has students singing the blues! Thought we'd commemorate this time of the year with an electric blues, and asked the superb Tom Adams https://soundcloud.com/tytlblues to join me.   Tom knows I love funk, and when this backing track with my electric guitar solo keyboard patch landed in his email, was probably a little funkier and more electric than his norm.  But damn, check out what he's done to challenge me.  Listening as always, he throws back some serious pitch bends, distortion, and mimics beautifully what I am doing on the synthesizer.  I have the first solo, Tom follows and we're off to the races together.  Thanks for the fun Tom....always a pleasure.

Back To School Blues - with Tom Adams / guitar

Tom and I came together here to record one of my very favorite Rock tunes, Feeling Alright.  Originally written by Dave Mason and performed by Traffic, the tune was picked up by the great Joe Cocker, performed at Woodstock, and the rest is history.  A great I-IV groove that just brings home emotion.  Tom had recorded this without piano and I immediately jumped in to ask if I could add the defining part (at least for me ).  No vocals here but I threw in the trombone melody to help bring back the proper vibe.  Hopefully the passion comes through with our recording. Here's a smooth souljazz recording Tom Adams, BigMamaDee (Debbie Deijkers)and I recorded recently.  Features BigMamaDee's beautiful voice, and Tom doing his George Benson interpretation.  Not the usual blues we have pulled off together in the past, but something a little softer and smoother to start the New Year with.  So great to be playing with SC's blues legendary duo, who have recorded more than 30 tunes here together.

So nice that my longtime collaborator friend @dough-factory has returned to SoundCloud after a break of a couple years! This is our first track working together since then and it came together in a really cool way. I was inspired by Ryan's electronic drums and bass to lay down some rhythm guitar as well as a few synth leads. Then he came up with some awesome lyrics/vocals that I think captures the vibe of this piece quite well.

Keep an eye out for more from us, we are thinking of pulling together a whole album or EP over the coming months.
