Senor Carlos - A Tribute to Santana with Joe Bongiovanni / guitar

We had a blast pulling this together.  Its a simple blues/gospel riff on organ in F, that sets up some wonderful opportunities for heavy jams over the top by Justin and Tom, two of the finest blues players I have ever recorded with.  Tom has the solos with a more treble sound, and Justin boosts his midrange and bass.  Check out their SoundCloud pages if you are not familiar.  They are bad ass, just like this tune. Bad Ass Blues - with Justin Valente and Tom Adams / guitars

What fun pulling this together with three serious musicians.  You probably know Joe Bongiovanni and Justin Valente's awesome blues oriented guitars, and they stretch out here on this funk / soul / fusion groove.  Burning it up they are.  And joining us on Alto Sax is recording artist Matt Criscuolo.  Look for him at mattcriscuolo.com.  These guys just play their ass off here.  Started with an internet fusion loop, I added many keyboard lines to funk it up to the max, and we added these pros.  Joe takes the opening solos for the first four minutes, Justin follows, and we finish with all the guys trading off.  So much energy.  Positive energy here.  Put this on and relax. Created this tune to combine elements of rock and fusion, and was looking to set up soloing similar to what John McLaughlin and Jeff Beck did with Jan Hammer. Sunny - With Joe Bongiovanni / guitar

How special for me to have been a part of this collaboration with the young and extraordinary Dutch composer/guitarist/keyboard player Rients Draaisma.  While my hope was to create a forum for a call and response type solo between my synth and Rients' soaring creative guitar ala John McLaughlin and Jan Hammer in the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Rients immediately turned it up several levels to create what we have here.   The head came from a synth solo line of mine that was then adjusted by Rients to meet the intricate and changing meter.  Everything else Rients did - the composition, the most intricate drum tracks, and his very deep soloing.  All  Overnight.  Wow.

In addition to being a fine guitar player with a tremendous sense of humor, Ian Tait cooks.  Both on his Strat and in the kitchen.  He's a very fine professional chef from Scotland whose specialty is pastries.   Not blowing anything up your Kilt when I say fine.  So when we put this together, Cooking with Ian seemed to be the perfect title.  Loved working together with him....you'll really enjoy his funky and tight playing.   Thanks so much Ian...great fun

Goin' Home - with Ian Tait / guitar

Bringing a soulful sound to SoundCloud with this one.  Lifetime recording artist, soul vocalist, saxophone and harmonica player Johnny Pugh sits in with blues guitarist extraordinaire Justin Valente and me on an emotional Ray Charles type slow jam.  What a wonderful surprise to hear Johnny's beautiful harp lines, which fit perfectly with Justin's raw electric blues energy. Mule's Blues (collab featuring Jamie Rhind)

So much fun to have musicians all over the world play together, and this jam includes three of my very favorite guitarists and musicians here on SoundCloud...Tom Adams, Ian Tait and Justin Valente.  These guys can all light up a stage, and graciously came together for this funky collaboration.  If you aren't following them all you should be - you'll be getting fresh tracks almost every day from each.  Tom and Justin are both from the US (Austin and NYC), and Ian hails from Edinburgh, Scotland.   For our Summer Funk Jam here, we started with a very funky internet backing track, allowing everyone to dig in and do their thing.  You'll recognize each of the guys' styles if you've been listening to their galleries, and together it makes for some serious Summer Funk. Summer Fun(k) Jam - collab with Tom Adams, Ian Tait and Justin Valente / guitars

Have wanted to do a blues with Philadelphia's https://soundcloud.com/telefan for a long time.  Jim is a positive fixture on SoundCloud, listening to so much new music, commenting on it, and also recording with so many.  Philadelphia is also the original home of many great B3 players including Joey DeFrancesco, so we've put together a swinging B3 blues to let Jim bust out his famed Telecaster and go to town, Philly style. So we gather the ingredients - keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and vibes - and get to work. Ever since I found SoundCloud I have wanted to record with Italy's Daniele Turani https://soundcloud.com/danieleturani one of the finest guitarists I have heard here.  Daniele is a true master of progressive rock and has recorded and produced several ambitious albums of superb music which I have - and you should too.   Surprised Daniele with this smoother fusion composition, and he graciously approved.  Check out his sweet sweet playing here on the guitar solos and rhythm. That Feeling - with Daniele Turani / guitar

This track is a cover of Freddie King's Palace of the King.  It was great fun to put all of this together and was a big challenge because we have an international cast (US, Netherlands and Spain), so many tracks to mix, and this is a really ambitious song.  I am happy with the outcome and really grateful for the wonderful teamwork on this.  Thanks to Johnny, Jamie and Debbie - a better group of people to work with you will not find :)

Palace Of The King (Freddie King cover featuring Johnny Pugh, Jamie Rhind and Debbie Deijkers)

This is a one night production featuring Jamie on organ / keyboards and me on guitar.  I put the background together using drum loops from beta monkey and bass loops from the loop loft.  I like the groove on this and it was a pleasure to collaborate with Jamie as always.  We knocked this track out in a matter of hours - which is pretty cool :)

G - Funk (featuring Jamie Rhind)

It's back to school time for so many and that has students singing the blues! Thought we'd commemorate this time of the year with an electric blues, and asked the superb Tom Adams https://soundcloud.com/tytlblues to join me.   Tom knows I love funk, and when this backing track with my electric guitar solo keyboard patch landed in his email, was probably a little funkier and more electric than his norm.  But damn, check out what he's done to challenge me.  Listening as always, he throws back some serious pitch bends, distortion, and mimics beautifully what I am doing on the synthesizer.  I have the first solo, Tom follows and we're off to the races together.  Thanks for the fun Tom....always a pleasure.

Back To School Blues - with Tom Adams / guitar

This is another track that came together pretty quickly.  The groove was inspired by some jamming I heard a few days ago and played along with for a while.  Once you have an idea what you're going for, these tracks can come together easily and take on a life of their own.

This one is me on guitars and bass and Jamie on organ and synth.  Drums are loops from beta monkey's funk drums collection.  

I am not good at naming these tracks and am functioning on little sleep, but after the fact I realized that my playing on this track is sort of inspired by the Grateful Dead's 'Help on the Way/Slipknot', which is a really cool tune and I unconsciously borrowed some of that vibe.  Jamie sounds great as usual and is pushing it hard on this one.  Hope you enjoy :)
