Chill Down - SuCole / Jon Lock / Sergio Parraga / Jamie Rhind

Four minutes of magic.  That's what we have here.  Assembled are such fine musicians from around the world - all serious about what they do and together, contributing to such a great sound.  The first time many have met musically, and a joy to bring these friends together.  

For me, Miles Davis has been the very highest beacon, and the Netherland's Ed van den Brekel brings his haunting electric trumpet sound and love for texture to the ensemble.  Ed plays with sound, and sure does so here with his harmonies and atmospheric approach.  Spanish percussionist Sergio Parraga adds his beautiful latin conga sound to drive the ensemble forward.  Love how he accentuates rhythms with syncopation, emphasis and such fine rhythm.  And for Slipping' & Slidin' we have two virtuoso guitarists - Lou Taverna and Dan van den Berg - simply tearing this apart.  Lou just hot home after a month away due to the tragic hurricane that hit New Orleans, and at long last was able to record his opening statement.  Damn, it is fire.  Such spectacular playing and impeccable rhythm and flow.   The second guitar solo is Soundcloud's legendary Dan van den Berg, also from the Netherlands, who brings his spectacular electric sound again to our music.  Simply adore what Dan plays and so special to have him here with Lou and this world ensemble.  Check out each of their impressive gallery of recordings:

With Soundcloud, music is so often created across the oceans, with musicians from around the world who have never met or spoken directly other than through this platform joining together.  Our new jazz fusion composition Across The Oceans pays tribute to these connections across oceans which have fostered such high quality of music, the sharing of regional influences, and true friendships.   
Joining me again are players from Germany, England, Spain and the US, who contribute their individual sounds, elevate and shape the music.  Our horn section was provided by two versatile instrumentalists - Georg Boehme on Baritone saxophone and Andy McLean on Tenor and Soprano saxes and EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument).  Love the full sound they get together and also the interplay between the two musicians.  Our featured guitarist is Stephan Lipinski, who weaves his fine solo to connect the oceans between Europe and North America.  Spanish percussionist Sergio Parraga provides the underlying churning rhythm complement to further bridge our two continents.

Our new jazz original What Happened To Truth is a conversation among friends.  I first sent the track to Georg Boehme and asked him to add some baritone sax, one of his many instruments.  Georg went above and beyond and sends me 4 tracks of baritone sax harmony plus solo, beautiful harmony, phrasing and lead playing that so warmly complements my synth lines.   Fellow woodwind player Sam Mendez added his sweet soprano sax sound and guitarist Al Schulman brings his sensitive playing and assertive soloing.  Our rhythmic glue for Truth is Sergio Párraga's tight conga playing.

Here's a pretty jazz original Turn Down The Lights.  Joining me are Georg Boehme on both bari sax and alto flute and Sergio Parraga on congas.  So fortunate to be able to record with these fabulous pros, who also do their thing here on SoundCloud.  Georg is a one man band while also leading a big band in Cologne, and Sergio is a recording artist from Barcelona.  There's so much interaction among the baritone sax and flute here, despite the fact that the lines were recorded separately.  Enjoy the fine music during this holiday weekend and beyond.

Birthday Smile - Sam Mendez / Sergio Parraga / Jamie Rhind

We're excited to bring some new hot fusion to SoundCloud.  World View includes so many of my favorite players here, coming together to create a sound that take me back to the wonderful epic days of Weather Report, one of the seminal instrumental bands of our lifetime.  Five simply superb musicians and friends helped bring this original to life - Germany's Mirko "Stringburner" Borach on bass, Spain's Sergio Parraga on percussion, the US's Stephan Lipinski on guitar, Spain's Sam Mendez on tenor sax, and Norway's Will Paasche joining me on keyboards.  And oh can they play.  Stringburner lays down such a fantastic, grooving bass line reminiscent of Jaco, Sergio brings his world percussion sound on Congas, Bongos and Timbale, Stephan Lipinski adds his inside out guitar work, Sam Mendez with his always beautiful tenor sax sound, and Will Paasche with the effortless synth solo.  I've jumped on a classic flanged Fender Rhodes sound that Weather Report's Joe Zawinul used so well to help create the syncopation and add to the churn.  We've captured an almost live sound over this modal fusion, letting the cats stretch out and let loose.  Love what everyone does here on this tribute to Weather Report and to their all world sound.
