After my son cleaned up his room I inherited his "children percussion" collection consisting of various sticks, shakers etc.
Happy about the new tools in my arsenal I used them to record the foundation of this little uplifting track. I tried to enhance to positive mood by some custom recorded vocal lines mixed into the virtual choir.

The English saying "We're all going to Hell in a hand-cart" just about describes my mood when I wrote "Descent". It was one of those weeks in northern hemisphere Spring 2024 when there was absolutely no good news coming in from anywhere on the planet.

I trust that things will get better!

Descent

This is an early concept demo of my song "In Tears." This is how my songs usually start—simple instrumental tracks that capture the initial mood and emotion I want to convey. At this stage, the music is raw and unpolished, serving as a foundation for further development.

Here's another original, Get Funky With Me, with grooving jazz guitarist Scott Nelson bringing it home.  We've set the tune up as a soul jazz groove with rhodes and piano, trading off with Hammond B3 organ and Scott's super tasty electric guitar.  Scott is new to SoundCloud, hails from Pennsylvania, and is simply a superb guitarist and musician.  On this track he brings a definitive John Scofield influence, reminding me of Sco's electric work on A Go Go, with organ and keyboard player John Medeski's group. More fun fusion here on the grooving original She Can Dance.  To get the party started, Tuscany's Daniele Petrocchi kicks into some heavy funk bass and we're off.  Great great lines from him and also Pennsylvania's deep jazz and fusion artist Scott Nelson, who brings his exceptional guitar playing and sound to this track.  I've had the wonderful opportunity to record here before with both players and they are musicians at the highest level.  So glad they could join to bring this to life.

Audric is the consummate musician, a musician's musician, and the top guitar expert in Philadelphia.  So I was again thrilled when he joins me here on our original, It's Not What It Seems.  With a handoff of the framework, Audric went to work - completely inspired - and turned it into this.   Not only the guitar, but additional keys, percussion, structure and ideas.   There's a lot to listen to here - from the spectacular initial guitar work to the harmonic structure and lines.
