Time Won't Move Me

This is the sound of a little video for my new show 'Waves' at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, 2013. Much of the footage was taken from the show's recent preview at Art in Action festival, Oxford (July 18- 21).

I’m describing the work as 'the unofficial history of the invention of the Butterfly stroke'. The story is about a woman called Liz who grows up on an Australian island and invents The Butterfly. While not exactly 'true', the story is part homage to pioneering Australian female swimmers and part re-reading of the history of swimming from a female voice.

The show is playing 2-23 August (not Mondays), 11.30am (45 minutes) at the Counting House at The Pear Tree, Edinburgh. It is free.

The story behind the lyrics on “Killing my Time” revolve around a girl I was seeing, who kept distracting me from making music. My bedroom is my studio and she only wanted to stay in bed and make love all day. It was hard to escape and be productive so I inevitably I ended up breaking up with her because I wanted to focus. It was fresh on my mind once I sat down to write this song. She was “Killing my Time."
