The concept of "The Road Back" is rooted in ‘The Hero's Journey’, the larger narrative woven throughout the release. The original is an ambient/electronica track using various layers and soundscapes.

My intention with the remix EP was to source three extremely talented artists I admire—three people with truly distinct identities. I wanted each to interpret the track however they wanted, with no guidelines or rules. The result is three extraordinary pieces that capture their individual aesthetics while impressively channeling the original's qualities.

This further motivates my label's objective: to be a platform for experimentation and expression, all while being a bit leftfield.

American musical mastery once more finds a home on Mango Alley. A plaintive cry from Dan Sieg echoes across a windswept seascape, "They Won't Find You". Jagged peaks hewn from volcanic rock punctuate the shoreline as hit hats and percussive flair rise out of the acoustic collage in similar fashion, built upon the foundations of subterranean bass line and hypnotic kick drum. Melodies carve an unexpected path through the sonic rock face, crisscrossing in pleasing patterns that create fractured images in the mind's eye.

A monarch of peerless quality and an icon within the music industry, King Unique, blessed with talent in abundance and inimitable sonic storytelling. Crafting a new conduit through Sieg's work, rhythmic precision is forged through the underground. Tree-lined outcrops mimic percussive patterns, rustling wind breathing new life in gentle white-noise washes. Spine-tingling melodies pierce the airwaves in shimmering beauty as sky meets land in a musical horizon of bright hope and optimism.

Reptilian elegance ripples across the sand dunes in mesmerising fashion, a "Sidewinder" emerges from the scrubland, full of menacing efficiency. The brooding bass line of Sieg's work dominates its environment, as the weaving path of a rattlesnake is patterned across the shifting silica highway. Open filters bristle against low-slung rhythms that carry a musical form across an unforgiving sonic landscape.

Full of visceral beauty, Dutch splendour finds Mononoid an unparalleled musical predator. Toying with its prey and twisting in new and electrifying direction, lost and found amongst an aural camouflage. Unerring precision and natural variation finds melodic delicacy and dizzying distortion that flies across the stereo spectrum, juxtaposed against hypnotic cadence and familiar venomous bass.

Machines imitate life in a world out west, "They Won't Find You" in the maze where time stands still in sonic beauty.

2018 was quite the year for Stripped Recordings! While welcoming a plethora of new talent, the label continued honing its most promising proteges. With work for Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, Fernando Ferreyra’s Dreamers and Tiësto's legendary “In Search Of Sunrise” comp series, Lucas Rossi reaffirmed that illustrious title. The Argentine makes his original Stripped debut by dealing “Critical Damage” to finish the year strong. Another connoisseur of wispy atmos and fluid melos, Erdi Irmak returns to the label family he’s called home since 2012. Through its swell of emotion, his tenderhearted remix caps a definitive year all-around.

Next up on Sasha's Last Night On Earth is Jon Gurd with a stellar new four track EP 'After It All'.

'Now' is a deep, heart-felt mystical ride carried along by a deliciously drawn out bottom line, wonderfully evolving strings and pads joined by wispy vocals. Driven by a solid kick the track is alleviated by the introduction of improvised synth chimes and added percussion.

Without doubt the chunkiest track on the EP has to be 'For Us'. The strong thud of a kick drum sits dominant on top a quiet mass of layered drums until dropping out, making way for a growth of delayed stabs, arpeggiated undertones and lush leads. Building in atmosphere, we crescendo as kick falls back in to place. A technical masterpiece on the manipulation of feelings through sound.

'I'm Going Home' carries the same unconventional electro-style kick pattern the rest of the EP champions. However, the premise of this track is built upon its growth, fattening up through delicately placed melodic synth textures, blankets of extraordinary percussion and pitchy panned vocals.

Last up is title track 'After It All', a deep, emotive journey filled with beautifully played key progressions, muted broken beats, organic percussion and an orchestral modulated loop.

Another raft of positively vibrant club tunes are assembled for the sixth volume in the Street Tracks Imprint series, and as always, new talent takes centre stage on these multi-artist EPs.

Felix Smith may be a new name on the block, but the author of ‘Deep Dish Pizza’ is a highly prolific British house producer masquerading under an alias, and it shows, as ‘NYC Sound Factory’ style vibes are strewn all over this heater of a track.  The golden age of techno/rave is evoked on Code R’s ‘Rave 89’, as frantic 909 hats, frenetic breakbeats and classic stab sounds rain down on a splendiferous production, whilst My Friend (FFRR/Anjunabeats) come correct with the slick and progressive ‘Nightrider’, with its driving percussive rhythm and thick arpeggiated synths.
