For this 7th edition we invite Arnau Obiols aka Velmondo.
Arnau is a prominent figure of Barcelona's scene for long years, resident of Nitsa / Sala Apolo and also part of the very cool C/C Radio launched last year.
He's a versatile producer with a bunch of solid releases under his belt - alone or with his friends MLIR or Kayyak - on respected labels such as Hivern, Internasjonal,  Local Talk or Compost.
For our edit series , he revisits here an obscure slo-mo acid-ish unclassic bomb from the mid-90's..., enjoy !

Lifted from his latest “Dreamweaving” EP, Elninodiablo’s oneiric journey of a tune “Dorothea’s Rainbow” returns in the form of a four-track remix package featuring the likes of Norwegian cosmic disco maestro Prins Thomas, fabled UK vibist Ray Mang and Berlin born and raised talent Perel, in addition to Elninodiablo himself.

An absolute master groove-musher, British legend @ray-mang (Mangled, DFA, R&S, Toy Tonics, Eskimo… etc.) harnesses the power of the Italo-disco gods to weave a romantically jacking revamp; bridging the gap betwixt straight up electro heat and brass-laden funk from outer-space. Intrinsically tailored for the dancers’ pleasure, this one’s bound to bring crowds to a steady simmer, just as is true with every Mang-led piece of work.

Can you dig it? Kayne certainly can.

Other than being the U.K's best young selector, Kayne is also a huge fan of the 1979 blockbuster 'The Warriors'. Expect references to the movie throughout this mix, alongside a dusting of the usual unusual tracks . 

Kayne's resourcefulness when it comes to digging is spellbinding, there are few people who are truly able to find the things that this man does. Take a trip through just over an hour's worth of unrivalled selection from East to West, North to South.

Written over 18 or so months, this EP is a collection of imprints, both aural and textural. Inspired by jobfit’s world, the release reflects the Australiana and etches a maelstrom of feelings: desire, mania, illusion, disquiet.

Our second release of the year comes via Eora Nation (Sydney, Australia) outfit jobfit, returning to the label with their new EP ‘Longer Form Cat Calls’.

Through this release jobfit continues to sincerely explore the intersection of spoken word and electronic music. The relationship between the production and poems have seen jobfit develop a new poetic fluidity. It supersedes classical poetic conventions allowing for a new aural space that delicately allows room for thought and movement.

Ideas of longing and escapism collide with the realities of music, it’s people and the ‘scenes’ that hold them together. jobfit explores what it means to love these communities and spaces, and sometimes not understanding why. There is understanding that these spaces are temporary, periodically autonomous, fragile, kaleidoscopic, transitory, and stolen.

The crisp and clever percussion and vocals intertwine throughout the EP, which incorporates references from breaks and swirling tech house with nods to electro and acid.

Tracks written, produced and mixed by jobfit on Gadigal land. Pure Space and jobfit both acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.

Recorded over a year and a half period while living in Mexico City through the pandemic, ‘Reflections on Intrinsic Value’, the first full album from Ronan, finds him continuing an endless exploration of music culture through an omnivorous approach to style, trope and timbre. Conceptual and literal influences from the UK hardcore continuum, psychedelic trance and traditional ceremonial music are all present here but the focus remains on the quality and texture of the sounds both rhythmic and melodic, rather than the stylistic referential. Sensation and memory play a large role in the narrative structure as individual pieces oscillate through a spectrum of moods, highlighting the wide range of emotional states felt during peak experiences. Although his largest body of work released yet, the direction still feels open ended, like a ball of yarn with all different colored threads, we’ll see what one Ronan pulls next.

Currently operating Invisible Inc records since 2015, the label specialises in psychedelic oddities catering towards aficionados of something a little more cosmic. Whether the music be ambient, tropical disco, new wave industrial techno or space rock, that psychedelic edge is always there.

Schon beim Einsatz des Grooves merkt man, Taron-Trekka sind eine der Deephouse Legenden dieser Zeit. Das ist so satt, so sicher, so schwermütig, so schön. Die Tracks zeigen einmal mehr, dass ihre Beats nicht nur ultrafett sind, sondern die Melodien und Ideen so zwanglos ineinandergreifen, so verschachtelt und dicht sind, so elegisch und kickend zugleich, dass man einfach jedes Mal begeistert ist. Große Housemusik für alle, die es nicht nur klassisch, sondern auch überdicht brauchen.

          Roger 23: The Taron-Trekka - Su20gg, is my favourite track. Dammed, there's something that is really touching me. Very US-House flavoured (in a good way), with a touch of old Farben (Jan Jelinek) but in a kind of more laidback House. It has deepnees, a nice mood and an appeal of jazz. All elements fits perfect together and in a DJ Set, the music is creating a warm and special atmosphere in the room. Superb! Cool, definitely going to play it.

Emotional Rescue is delighted to offer this compilation of music from Elaine Kibaro and her particular coalesce of chanson, folk, balearic and touch of disco, all encased in her strong French and North African roots. 

The music included here, released between 1979 to 1989, is an expression of her development, of music changes matching growth in life, conveyed through her emotions in song. Opening with the spoken word Introduction from her debut album, "Mirrors" and the folk rock of melodies of Le Reveil from the 1981 follow up, Au Soleil, her early works are characterised by band, orchestra and choirs complimenting her voice as one. 

This is further heard on the mystical Sorciere, psyche percussion of Secret, the marching Le Guerrier and the inclusion her first "hit" with Aurore, appearing her in all it's extended, off-kilter guitar meets organ form.

Exploring sensitivity and desires the compilation matches these earlier folk and world inspired songs with her move towards electronic production that accompanied a return some 4 years later, adding balearic and even pop dance found on 1985's Le Long De Fleuve Amour and the following 1989 opus, in Kiroel. 

L'Amour Pour Bouclier and Ne Doute Pas lift her music higher towards lovers' heights, with word, melody, and rhythm giving the desire to dance and be free, while her continuing exploration of chanson and spoken word takes on new meanings via the new wave meets estoric Douleur, while the emotionally charged soundscape of Kiroel brings balance. 

Inspired by the purity of song, Kibaro's music's has a timeless essence to behold; a voice and words found through life experience - beauty, discovery, nature and dreams. 

A love and hope in music, her quest for the infinite potential in song.

Oldie but a goodie! I went on Beats In Space in 2009 and made this mix "Lullabies" for my newborn son. Finally uploaded it to Soundcloud. Mellow vibe, lay down and sink in.

From his studio retreat in the heart of the Norwegian forest, Raaja Bones astral projects to a distant paradise, glancing the frosty tips of Norwegian fir trees on his way to exotic locations. 

Trading the Scandinavian fjord for a beach in Miami, Raaja finds a bounce in his step, moonwalking his way across groovy keys and shuffling beats through Boardwalks. A sonic palette echoing with the reverberations of bygone days, playing on a collective nostalgia, a Kodak moment turned gif, frozen on a telephone screen. 

Hazy chords and playful melodies glisten against temperate rhythmical zones as they roll through the arrangement. Disembodied vocals float in a steamy fog above warm tones, as Raaja’s voice passes through the record like a spectral dream. A rusty vignette forms within crystalline tones as bold synthesizers are coerced into reluctant musical forms, ambling through cheery earworms and rousing rubber bass-lines.
