Recorded over a year and a half period while living in Mexico City through the pandemic, ‘Reflections on Intrinsic Value’, the first full album from Ronan, finds him continuing an endless exploration of music culture through an omnivorous approach to style, trope and timbre. Conceptual and literal influences from the UK hardcore continuum, psychedelic trance and traditional ceremonial music are all present here but the focus remains on the quality and texture of the sounds both rhythmic and melodic, rather than the stylistic referential. Sensation and memory play a large role in the narrative structure as individual pieces oscillate through a spectrum of moods, highlighting the wide range of emotional states felt during peak experiences. Although his largest body of work released yet, the direction still feels open ended, like a ball of yarn with all different colored threads, we’ll see what one Ronan pulls next.

Oriental acid, frenzied samples, low hanging film noir suspense. This is DALO. Or not. She is many. Dry maniac downbeat is her craft. Or dark-ish pop-not-pop. There is dub, trance, techno, too. She is known for releases on labels like ESP Institute, WARNING, or Tresor. She is part of bands like Init. She played them all, those clubs, that matter, and those that matter more. Live. Alone. As an artist. With a band. Here she comes with her first album. On the R.i.O. sphere. Her homebase. A trusted zone for experimentation. She brings “Duster”. Seven tunes twisted in different dreams. Fast, slow, veiled, enchanted, haunting trenchant. She sings. These songs. To dance. For a different, stripped-back trance. DALO. Her record longs for a stage. Exporting grace, face to face. Danny Wabbit returns to the forefront with Manic, a carefully crafted five track EP that serves as a visceral journey through the psychological spectrum of the dancefloor.

The EP opens with the unexpected: 'Fear Is Nothing But A Tool', a cinematic dubstep intro to set a dark, preparatory tone. It then ignites with the title track 'Manic', a hypnotic and powerful techno cut built to induce peak-time frenzy.

Stripping techno back to its raw essence, 'Severed' delivers a minimalist homage to the genre's warehouse roots. This raw intensity then gives way to the meditative groove of 'Breath Work', a track centered on calming, pulsating rhythms. The EP closes with the soulful and uplifting vibes of 'That One House Track', the perfect euphoric finale to a long night.

From his studio retreat in the heart of the Norwegian forest, Raaja Bones astral projects to a distant paradise, glancing the frosty tips of Norwegian fir trees on his way to exotic locations. 

Trading the Scandinavian fjord for a beach in Miami, Raaja finds a bounce in his step, moonwalking his way across groovy keys and shuffling beats through Boardwalks. A sonic palette echoing with the reverberations of bygone days, playing on a collective nostalgia, a Kodak moment turned gif, frozen on a telephone screen. 

Hazy chords and playful melodies glisten against temperate rhythmical zones as they roll through the arrangement. Disembodied vocals float in a steamy fog above warm tones, as Raaja’s voice passes through the record like a spectral dream. A rusty vignette forms within crystalline tones as bold synthesizers are coerced into reluctant musical forms, ambling through cheery earworms and rousing rubber bass-lines.
