The fifty-second guest of KHIDI’s Podcast series is British producer and DJ, Black Merlin- the solo project of George Thompson. His other aliases and collaborations being Spectral Empire, Kommune, and Karamika. Thompson’s diverse releases are featured across labels such as Pinkman, Boysnoize Records, Omnidisc, and Jealous God - just to name a few. With more than a decade under his belt, Thompson has experimented between multiple electronic genres - jungle, drone minimal wave, retrogressive EBM, and hypnotic dark techno as of recent years.

Born in Osaka and now based in Tokyo, DJ MARIA. joins a decorated lineage of Japan's psychedelic elite, cut from a similarly explorative cloth as Wata Igarashi, Haruka and esoteric icons ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U and DJ Nobu. This nerdy sanctum of deep techno is a notoriously hard world to break into: only the very best make the grade. DJ MARIA.'s head-spinning sets emphasise why she's already part of the club firmament at home, and is now in the midst of a global breakthrough.

Her trademark is tapestries of acid, trance and techno that strike a perfect balance between vibrancy, impact and restraint. She bit the bug through a teenage discovery of DVDs showing legendary psytrance raves like Solstice and Vision Quest, yet it wasn't until 2014 that she started DJing, balancing gigs with shifts at Tokyo's Face Records and, as of late, motherhood.

Today, as well as producing and touring venues such as FOLD and Bassiani, she helps run two boutique forest festivals—Moment and Transcendence—both of which play a big part in upholding Japan's storied techno tradition. DJ MARIA. has reached these heights principally because of her exceptional talent as a DJ, which is on full display on this week's RA Podcast.

The two-hour mix is pure manna for psychedelic techno heads, though we're confident the depth of feeling, subtle pacing and seamless stitching will lure in fans from across the electronic spectrum. RA.971 is a total treasure—the latest wow moment from an artist destined to have a career littered with them.

Tras 10 años de carrera en el trance y numerosos logros, YUTA pasó al techno en 2015, lanzó Liquid Drop Groove en 2016 y comenzó a publicar música en formato digital y vinilo, podcasts y streaming de vídeo. YUTA - Special Mix x Superdommune

The People In The Fog is a moniker of DJ Sodeyama. He has been a stalwart of the Tokyo underground for nearly three decades, cutting his teeth in the 90's and retaining a key presence at the forefront of Japan's house music scene.

Over the years he has released a sprawling array of music under a few monikers on the likes of Zenit, Rekids, Quartz and трип. However most recently he has been operating under the guise of The People In The Fog which has afforded him the chance to dig deeper into his sound channeling elements of funk, downtempo and the dubbier undertones of house.

He has released this material on Japanese record label Sound Of Vast and for dj's in the know those records have become a 'buy on sight' scenario.

This mix showcases versatility and class. Tight blends, excellent, deep thoughtful selections.

The Swedish superduo Einar Christoffersson and Marco Gegenheimer broke through in 2016 via their EP "Swedish Lo-Life," released on the eclectic Studio Barnhus label. Born from a love of heavily dug DJ sets, late-night studio sessions, and live organic elements; they channel a whole universe of stories.
MLiR always has something to say through their sounds, constantly expanding their musical journey. They’ve had varied support during the years from DJ Harvey, Hunee, Antal, Kamma & Masalo, Laurent Garnier, Axel Boman, Lipelis, Jonny Rock, Danilo Plessow, Gilles Peterson, DJ Koze, Roman Flügel, Move D, Nicola Cruz, Haai, and Prins Thomas, to name a few.
The MLiR SoundCloud page is filled with mixes for NTS, DHA, Dekmantel, Dekmantel Selectors, Planet Trip, Kiosk Radio, Worldwide FM, Krossfingers, and others. With releases on Marco and Arnau Obiols’ own Taf Kif Records, Ibadan, and Shall Not Fade, 2024 brought to light their debut album, a 16-track double LP, once again, on home base Studio Barnhus.
Marco (the DJ of MLiR), who was behind the online record store Magic Teapot Records, runs the party ”Calamari Rolls Royce” at the hyped Club Malasaña in Madrid on a regular basis.
