NEWS : Our song Cccan't you See is in the 2nd series of Halt and Catch Fire. It is featured in Episode 8, which was aired in the USA on the 19th of July 2015. For those of you who are not familiar with the series here is a brief description..

From AMC Studios, Halt and Catch Fire captures the rise of the PC era in the early 1980s, during which an unlikely trio — a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy — take personal and professional risks in the race to build a computer that will change the world as they know it. While charting the changing culture of Texas' Silicon Prairie, tensions build within the group as they attempt to navigate the thin line between visionary and fraud, genius and delusion, and as their drive to do something that matters runs up against their ability to truly innovate. The 10-episode series is created by Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers and executive produced by showrunner Jonathan Lisco (Southland) and Gran Via Productions’ Mark Johnson (Breaking Bad, Rectify, Diner, Rain Man) and Melissa Bernstein (Breaking Bad, Rectify). The series stars Lee Pace (Lincoln, Pushing Daisies) as Joe McMillan, Scoot McNairy (Argo) as Gordon Clark, Mackenzie Davis (Smashed) as Cameron Howe, Kerry Bishé (Argo, Red State) as Donna Clark, and Toby Huss (Cowboys & Aliens) as John Bosworth.

“Kings of the Mountains 1.0″ recorded in 2011. This version of the track is an instrumental, based on the racing ascent and descent by road bicycles of a mountain that has featured in the Tour De France. This was developed from Brian’s experience of cycling some of the mountains that feature in the Grand Tour, Mont Ventoux in Provence, being, especially awe inspiring to him.

Lots of the sounds used are recorded from bikes, mapped out onto samplers, then played on keyboards. The first version of the track was uploaded to Youtube july 2012, to coincide with the start of that Years Tour De France. 

A new mix was made especially for the Tour De France Grand Depart from Leeds UK in 2014. It was recorded in September 2013, featuring Claudio Kron on bike percussion, (no samples). “Kings of the Mountains 2.X” is an extended version with vocals and tempo changes relative to ascent, descent and racing finish. “Kings of the Mountains 2.X” has now been uploaded to Soundcloud.

NEEB have played with many lineups over the years, but the five key band members have been creating music together for over a decade. Also known as ‘the speccy white boys’; Andy Wain (analogue synthesizers and effects), Mark Hand (analogue synthesizers, Rhodes and effects), Mark Lloyd (drums) Peter Casson (guitar) and Tony Waite (bass) have a natural creative connection that fuels a great proliferation of original jams and tunes. 

NEEB have a fair few things to shout about…

40,000 downloads of their mega hits ‘Waxed’ and ‘Tof Gunk’ in Japan via the Toryumon label, a performance at In The City urban music festival (Manchester) and an appearance at Glastonbury (featuring White Negroes vocalist Ian Monaghan) supporting The Egg, Gong and the legendary Rolf Harris! 

The electricity meter does not run out of 50p’s there… NEEB celebrated their 10th year by headlining the Chill Out Tent at Solfest Festival in 2010 playing an epic 90 minute set; amongst the likes of James, The Magic Numbers and Alabama 3.

As a follow-up NEEB played the well respected and expanding Willowman Festival on Saturday 18th June 2011, and they were pleased to join many other bands from Hartlepool playing the same festival.

Since 1999, NEEB’s music has evolved from electronica through to drum & bass, break-beat, funky house, deep house, techno and jazzy-breaks. With a sound somewhere between Nightmares On Wax and Underworld their style is definitely left of centre and eclectic in taste.

The band emerged from the electronic outfit ‘Manitou’ who’s tracks were released on the Experiment Collective Intelligence compilation CD and vinyl EP Module’s One & Two alongside Hidden Agenda (Metalheadz). This very successful release managed to export the band’s music across the world, particularly the Far East and America, in addition to providing the foundation for the subsequent band, NEEB.

NEEB have released music on the Uptown Café Compilation with Toryumon, Sounds from the Funky Underground Compilation with Chocolate Fireguard / Vinyl Assassins (home to successful soul/funk outfit Kava Kava), and their self-released album Northern Electric.

NEEB have played their fusion of beats, breaks and electronica to crowds at Glastonbury, Moles Club [Bath], Maze Club [Nottingham], Timeless Festival [Huddersfield] supporting Zion Train and Pee-Wee Ellis, Lift Festival [Manchester] and the totally cool Telfords Warehouse [Chester].
