MANTRA OF LIGHT; THE MANTRA OF VARIOCANA BUDDHA
The meaning of this mantra is, "praise to the unfailing seal of Vairocana Buddha illuminating the unsuppassible Jeweled Lotus of infinite light, magnificance and power."

WonHyo Kunsunim emphasized the merit of this mantra in his book,  "the road of comfort" 유심안락도(遊心安樂道) saying that "If sinners listen to this mantra two, three, or even seven times, all sin is lost.  And even if regeneration falls into the worst after death by the death of ten evils and four crimes, it is possible to obtain liberation if this mantra is memorized.  Especially when you put soil or sand in a bowl and memorize this mantra 108 times, scatter the sand on the body and scatter it on the cemetery or the tomb pagoda, and the light of the Buddha of Virocana will come to the deceased and destroy all sins But will lead to the PureLand in the Western Paradise." 

["만일 중생이 이 진언을 두 번이나 세 번 또는 일곱 번을 귀로 듣기만 하여도 모든 죄업이 없어지게 된다. 또 중생이 십악(十惡)과 사중죄(四重罪)를 지어 죽은 다음 악도에 떨어질지라도 이 진언을 외우면 능히 해탈을 얻을 수 있다. 특히 그릇에 흙이나 모래를 담아놓고 이 진언을 108번 외워 그 모래를 시신(屍身) 위에 흩거나 묘지 또는 묘탑 위에 흩어주면 비로자나 부처님의 광명이 망인(亡人)에게 이르러 모든 죄업을 소멸시켜 줄 뿐 아니라 서방 극락세계의 연화대로 인도하게 된다. 모래를 묘 위에 흩는 것만으로도 극락왕생하거늘 하물며 진언으로 옷을 지어 입고 소리를 내어 외우면 어떠하겠는가? 모래를 흩는 공덕보다 진언을 외우는 공덕이 더 수승함은 말할 것도 없다."] 

The mantra of the Vairocana Buddha (Cosmic Buddha) reads:

'oṃ amogha vairocana mahāmudra maṇipadma jvāla pravarttaya hūṃ,' or 'oṃ amogha vairocana mahāputra maṇipadma jvāla pravarttaya hūṃ'
[옴 아모가 바이로차나 마하무드라 마니 파드마 즈바라 프라바를타야 훔]

Literally the words translate as: oṃ unfailling illuminating great-seal jeweled-lotus blazing evolve hūṃ

 'Om' is the root of all mantras, and 'Om' has the meaning of reverence [‘옴’은 모든 진언의 근본음으로, ‘옴’ 자에는 귀명(歸命)의 뜻이 있다].

'Amogha' means unfailing, not empty, and not futile and is the unfailing and perfect achievenment of the Buddha [‘아모가’는 내 마음의 북방에 항상 계신 불공성취불(不空成就佛)의 이름이다.  불공성취불은 성소작지(成所作智)의 덕에 머무르며, 일체 중생을 위하여 가깝게 사바세계에 모습을 나타내어 교화하시는 역사상의 부처님, 곧 석가모니불을 가리킨다.]

'Viroccana' is the name of the cosmic Buddha, the centre of Mind, and is also called Daiyu (如 來 來).  It is the Buddha's truth body, a fire is a symbol of the cosmic unity that encompasses the entire universe producing infinite light, and if the sun were to removed all darkness would glow brightly through all things. Vairocana is the Buddha of infinite light'.  It is the source of all kinds of all beings, including man, as a Buddhist body that lies in the virtue of all the heavenly bodies. [‘바이로차나’는 내 마음의 중앙에 항상 계신 비로자나불, 곧 법신불의 이름이며, 대일여래(大日如來)라고도 한다. 법신불은 부처님의 진리의 몸으로서 마치 태양이 일체 세간의 어둠을 없애고 일체의 만물을 성장시키는 것처럼, 시방삼세(十方三世)의 온 우주법계에 두루 충만하여 무한한 빛을 비추는 우주적 통일체의 상징으로서 '광명의 부처님'을 가리킨다

Mahāmudra means the seal of the Buddha.  It is Buddha's clear wisdom which defeats all suffering and evil [‘마하무드라’는 내 마음의 동방에 계신 아촉불의 이름으로, 아촉불은 대원경지(大圓鏡智)의 덕에 머무르며 우주법계의 만상을 명료하게 조견(照見)하고 중생의 번뇌를 퇴치하여 모든 중생이 본래 갖추고 있는 보리심을 개발하여 해탈케 하시는 부처님이다.]

'Manipadma means "jewel in the lotus," probablly addressing a bodhisattva called maṇipadma, "Jewel-Lotus" or KwanSeum Bosal (Avalokitesvara) and is related to Amitabul Buddha and his PureLand [‘파드마’는 내 마음의 서방에 항상 계신 아미타불(阿彌陀佛)의 명호이며.]  Amitabul and KwanSeum provide the Western PureLand where all beings can be reborn in faith [아미타불은 묘관찰지(妙觀察智)의 덕에 머무르며 중생을 위해 설법으로 의심을 끊게 하고, 대자비로 일체 중생을 접수하여 극락정토로 이끄시는 부처님이다.]

'Jvāla pravarttaya' refers to the "Light of the Buddha! Let the light shine! " [‘즈바라 프라바를타야’는 이상에서 말한 “부처님의 광명이여! 그 빛을 발하소서!" 라는 뜻으로]

Hum is the ending to all mantras [‘훔'은 모든 진언을 마무리하는 근본음이며].
