It's an AIDS Project LA benefit with Sandy Duncan's Eye, Disco Pony, Oiler, and about seven other bands. But I ain't gonna say 'em all, because that'd take up too much time. You know, I'm so tired of hearing all you self-styled boho, hipper-than-now, zine reviewers, lamenting the lousy state of the live music scene in LA. Next time somebody goes to the trouble to drop 500 bucks a pop, to offer you something cool, something edgy, and something live, you'd better come out of your shabby hovels with your seven bucks in hand, or forever hold your PC, because the scene doesn't happen without your financial support. That said, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you that the Witches' Brew is no longer a weekly affair due to your overwhelming apathy. Look for monthly gigs at the Hong Kong, starting up June 17, with the Messa [?] band, so you really get your money's worth. We'll also feature performance art, a snake handling belly dancer, and of course, an audience participatory pagan ritual. Not this Saturday, but the following Saturday, March 11th, at three o'clock. And it's going to be very, very, very retro hell, which is not only pop culture kind of retro hell. You know, like the typical flashback from the decades and all. But, also, retro as in childhood sort of oriented retro. So, very youth culture retro. Like bring your big wheels, okay? And your hippity hops. I don't really remember what those are called. But no, there will be games and toys and prizes. And dress in retro costumes, whatever you deem your retro to be. I explain to my roommate Lisa Baumgardner that I will be staying in Manhattan until early in the morning, primarily because I will partying at Annie Sprinkle and Spider Webb's Tattoo Party in celebration of Charles Gatewood's Forbidden Photographs at the Hellfire Club.  Lisa stays with her friend that night and leaves a message for me on my answering machine in Brooklyn, while I am at the Gatewood party.  She refers to Per Sjostedt and Candida Royalle's upcoming party of Friday, October 16 (though she doesn't know their party will actually be in Brooklyn, not Manhattan.)  October 14, 1981.
