The Charming Story Behind Schubert's "Atzenbrugger Dances"
This collection of dances is more than just a series of compositions; it is a musical testament to friendship, summer retreats, and the convivial culture of the "Schubertiaden."

The name "Atzenbrugger Tänze" did not originate with Schubert himself but was established over time due to the music's close connection to the composer's stays at Atzenbrugg Castle in Lower Austria. These country gatherings in the 1820s were a welcome escape from city life in Vienna, providing a backdrop for carefree days filled with music, dancing, and literary readings.

The six dances on this album are a collection drawn from two of Schubert's larger cycles of dances, which explains their composition dates. All of them originate from the period around the summer of 1821, a time when Schubert is known to have been at Atzenbrugg with his circle of friends. The pieces masterfully capture the cheerful and lighthearted atmosphere of those summer days.

These gatherings, known as "Schubertiaden," were intimate, private events. In contrast to grand public concerts, the focus here was on the shared experience of art and friendship. Schubert, who was not a passionate dancer himself, would often sit at the piano for hours, improvising Ländler and waltzes for the delight of his dancing friends. Drawings by his friends, like Leopold Kupelwieser, immortalize the idyllic and joyful mood of these country parties.

This music, therefore, is a direct echo of a happy and creative period in the composer's life. It invites the listener on a brief journey back in time to an Austrian Biedermeier summer, filled with the sounds of a young genius and the warmth of his friendships. This is music created not for the concert hall, but for the moment and for a small circle of kindred spirits—an intimate glimpse into the world of Franz Schubert.

Dies ist der erste Entwurfs des Titelsongs "Alexander Kekulé" aus dem zur Zeit in Entstehung befindlichsen Musical "Aerosol – das Musical" (Arbeitstitel). 

Grundidee (Auszug): Der Protagonist, der sympathische Virologe Alexander Kekulé (vgl. Simba aus "Lion King), kämpft gegen seinen bösen Widersacher Dr. Christian Drosten (vg. Scar aus "Lion King"). Das Musical wird ausschließlich von Weißen gesungen, aber in "afrikanischer" Tracht (vgl. "Lion King"). Einige Darsteller sind mit dem Corona-Virus infiziert, stehen auf der Bühne ohne Mundschutz und singen sehr nah an den Zuschauern dran. Hieraus ergibt sich ein spektakulär immersives Musicalerlebnis (vgl. "Blue Man Group"). Die Zuschauer sind TEIL des Musicals bzw. der Pandemie.
