Étienne Turgy-Chartré, aka Nocide, was born on april 3, 1991 in Montreal. He first discover the music at the age of 10,with the manipulation of an acoustic guitar and a keyboard.

Electronic music appeared to him for the first time in 2008 and it was at this time that the artist began to take an interest in the art of mixing. Beginning with Drum'n bass, Nocide later discovered other interesting musical styles such as break beat, Techno and Psy-prog and created his first full product in 2010.

The self-taught artist was recruited by Dj School Montreal in 2014 to teach Ableton Live and has since performed in various Electronic Music Festivals, such as Eclipse,  Timeless, Totem, Space Gathering Groove and bass, Tribunion and many more.

Characterized by a fat and deep bassline, Nocide techno is both dark and dancing, sometimes creaky but always festive. Without corresponding to any musical kind, his style could be considered as Tech-minimal Prog.

 In terms of his Trip-Hop, Lo-Fi and experimental projects, they are much lighter and more personal.

Xavier L.-B. aka Contrapunctus is a progressive Psytrance producer and musician. A music lover from a very young age, he’s now a professional violist, playing in various groups and symphony orchestras as a classical performer, and is passionate about underground electronic music.
 
His first encounter with Psytrance, at Timeless Festival 2017, had an enormous impact on him. As a result, he decided to produce his own sound by taking classes with well-known Canadian producer Black Marvin. Contrapunctus’s music is captivating, infused with juxtaposed rhythms, evolving melodies, and soundscapes that evoke orchestral music. His musical universe combines novelty and tradition in an organic manner, all in a unique Psy/Prog style. In this regard, his artist name refers to a writing technique used by Johann Sebastian Bach in which multiple melodic lines are interwoven to form a harmonious combination.

In 2023, Contrapunctus joined the Quebec collective Abduction Tales, and released his first EP Creatio as well as his single Dignity on Adhara Records.
In 2024, he released Conscious EP on Divinity Records, Continuum on Diatonic Records and Monk Chant on Adhara Records as well. He also played his first official live set at Era Festival.

Xavier L.-B. alias Contrapunctus est un producteur de Psytrance progressive et un mélomane dans l’âme depuis l’enfance. Il gagne aujourd’hui sa vie comme altiste au sein de différents ensembles et orchestres symphoniques comme interprète classique et il se passionne pour la musique électronique underground. 

Sa première rencontre avec la Psytrance, au festival Timeless 2017, l’a profondément marqué. Il décide alors de produire sa propre sonorité en suivant des cours avec le producteur d’ici  bien connu Black Marvin. La musique de Contrapunctus est envoutante, infusée de rythmes juxtaposés, de mélodies évolutives et de paysages sonores pouvant évoquer des musiques orchestrales. Son univers musical combine nouveauté et tradition de façon organique, le tout dans un style Psy/Prog unique. Son nom d’artiste, en ce sens, fait référence à une technique d’écriture utilisée par Jean-Sébastien Bach qui consiste à entremêler plusieurs lignes mélodiques pour former un amalgame harmonieux.

En 2023, Contrapunctus rejoint le collectif québécois Abduction Tales et sort son premier EP Creatio, ainsi que le single  Dignity sous étiquette Adhara Records. 
En 2024, il sort son EP Conscious sous le "label" Divinity Records, Continuum sur Diatonic Records ainsi que Monk Chant sur Adhara Records. Il a également joué son premier "live set" officiel à Era Festival.
