Fragments of a dream

Forgotten: 
Well it seems we've been forgotten
In this distant place
Floating on a dead drift
Nowhere to keep us safe
Somebody's got to call the captain
Tell him we're in trouble and we need to call home
and we can tell them where the soul lives
but only for a price
Sometimes tucked behind the shadows 
Hiding from the light
But if we pierce it with the purest sound
We can share the stories on the way down

The wind was barely blowing, but I couldn't hear the voice
Like silent film with color at the fringe
We were so close to touching bottom 
They waved with crooked smiles
They threw the rope too short to pull us in

Forgotten

Wrote this for my daughter to be played at her wedding this year. Self-explanatory. Many thanks to my friend and music partner Nat Daniels for adding her talents on piano, bass and the drum track.

But little girls don’t stay little long
You’d chase me room to room, those bedtime stories soon
Drifted off like a dream, still there, but not to be seen

We always knew that there’d come a day
Spring flowers never stay, and I’ll give you away
To dream with somebody new, 
Someone who’s wonderful too
