The quartets on this disc are among Beethoven's final utterances on the string quartet, a form of which he became the ultimate master. The two quartets included here are: No. 15 in A minor, Opus 132 and No. 16 in F major, Opus 135.

The music is performed by the Penderecki String Quartet, one of the most celebrated chamber ensembles of their generation. 

The track featured here is the fourth movement "Alla Marcia" from the String Quartet No. 15
