Wake Island is a Montreal electronic duo deftly manoeuvring between genres, crafting songs that mix minimal techno beats with 90s rock/pop influences. The band is comprised of Philippe Manasseh and Nadim Maghzal, both Lebanese immigrants who met while studying in Montreal in the early 2000s. 

Now based between Montreal and New York, Wake Island’s main focus is to reconcile their Arab roots with their North American lives, offering songs in three languages that testify to a truly unique perspective on modern life in Western societies. With vocals, synths and guitars remaining the crux of their music, the band forged a particular approach to techno production.

Wake Island is an ever changing live experience guided by a visceral inventiveness which has become an instrument in its own right.

Lele is the new incarnation of musical proclivities for this artist. Her goal is to be a Yukon alt popstar. Rising from the feminist ashes of Carnal Romance (punk-metal) and Big Mama Lele (sexually-charged folk)Lele is a solo act of keys, synths, beats, vocals and bass. 

Big Mama Lele sung her special mix of  double entendre, honesty and fun, for 10 years. She's toured the U.S, Canada, and a bit of Siberia too. Her music was inspired by simple, old blues and a random assortment of cassettes from thrift shops. She opened for acts including The Burning Hell, and Rae Spoon. Her last show was May 26, 2016 in Toronto.
