Joel Isaac Black or Mister Hazy Pockets (as his faithful converts know him) is first and foremost a soul-man. He’s up to get down. He is a psychic selector and dance music deejay of wide renown, an electric presence, an old-soul music preacher inviting you to the kingdom of heaven in the kick drum. He is a grinning cowboy, sometimes a wizard, but perhaps most importantly, a gentleman with a deadly instinct for turning a party on its head and putting pep in the step of the stiffest statues in the room. — Hazy Pockets means select cuts of sublime acid- funk-liquid-disco-boogie, robo-sleaze, icy-hot body-beat, blissful Balearic mechanics, a glorious romp delivered with subtle winks and deliberate bounce...with an altogether human funkiness shaking it all loose.

Inspired through travel, music, art, and performance....
I believe this project gives a sense of time, place, feeling, culture, celebration, specificity, ambiguity, events, large and small, and our place in the urban environment.
