My entry for KVR OSC #163

The fizz of the drink is so loud it makes Nesbit's teeth hurt. He takes another sip. It's delicious. The kefir is sour and delicious at the same time, like a cross between wine and yogurt. 
He tries to remember what it tastes like when he stops drinking it. Kefir tastes like kefir.
It is at this moment that he remembers.
He remembers everything.
He remembers that when he first arrived at the space port, he went to find a bar called the Happy Alien.
He remembers that the proprietor of the bar was a large creature that looked like a giant, orange caterpillar, and that the caterpillar had a human-shaped head.
He remembers that the caterpillar told him he would be happy here, and that his life would be good here, and that he should stay.
He remembers that the kefir tastes like wine and yogurt.
He remembers that the Happy Alien is a lie, and that the entire space port is a giant lie.
Everything he thinks he knows is wrong, and everything he thought he was doing in life was all wrong.
His eyes are blurry and his mouth is dry. He wonders if he should go to the washroom.

Made using GHOST 0.3.6 for the KVR One Synth Challenge. Everything is done via synth, no samples or external modulation used.

This was a lot of fun to make as I used to spend a lot of time trying to make rock tracks using very old MIDI gear (like, SC-55 old) by manipulating them as much as I could. I went with a similar approach here.

Played as a mono synth using LFOs for rhythm, sequencing and pitch mods. All mixing done by playing the four macros and modwheel, then editing the recorded automation on the timeline.

The Light Windows

"The Night" is a deep house track that borrows elements from classic UK House and Nu Disco, as well as borrowing some faint elements of tech house, funk, R&B and soul. Easy going, danceable, warm, and overall a "feel good" vibe. After the complexity of "My Intentions," it felt fitting to create a "chill-down" track after. If you are a member of splice, I strongly recommend checking out toolroom's beat packages; they are phenomenal, especially for those who enjoy disciplined tech-house beats
