Sterling Juan Diaz is a 29-year-old Dominican American DJ born and based out of New York City. His Djing is heavily influenced by the queer NYC Dance Scene that raised him. A lover of music in general, his pallet and sets tend lean into various depths of genres, grooves, and tones all with a distinctly NY flair.

The title for this mix is ‘Cipactli’. 

It was believed that only water was present in the beginning. Earth wasn’t created until a large sea demon Cipactli was destroyed - a primeval sea monster, part crocodilian, part fish, and part toad, with indefinite gender. Being the source of the cosmos, Cipactli had an insatiable appetite, and each joint of the creature bore a mouth. They pulled Cipactli’s body in four directions and freed the universe from its body. The creature’s head became the thirteen heavens, its tail the underworld, its midsection the Earth, and so on. The primordial creator and god of fertility and new beginnings.
