She's Not The Hurting Kind

A/D/E/P is the new release from Belgian production duo GoldFFinch, who have been causing a stir of late with their readily identifiable sound. With recent releases on labels like Innervisions, Turbo and Dirtybird, the two Belgians have proven they have what it takes to grab an audience’s attention and this two track EP is no exception.

First up is ‘Algae’, a beautifully orchestrated piece of music, with a tense, almost melancholic tone that successfully threads its way through the whole track. Subtle where it needs to be and always becoming, give into it and this track will take you to far flung places.

‘Dilligence’ meanwhile opens with basic percussion that introduces the track’s first elements and sets a tone that right up to the end takes it into perfect after-hours territory.  With no let up the driving factor is the constant barrage of percussion over which the duo go to work with their synths laying down ambient textures. Together these tracks form a brilliant EP; one we couldn’t be happier to share with you.

sesto album per il peso del corpo, 'le metamorfosi' segna un'ulteriore svolta all'interno della produzione del cantautore | la nuova formazione che lo accompagna sveste i panni acustici e scrive undici canzoni graffianti e rabbiose | la lirica si spoglia, i versi diventano asciutti e le parole corrono sul filo, in continuo equilibrio tra negazione e significato

il singolo che anticipa il disco dà il nome all'intero album e rappresenta al meglio il progetto, grazie a una scrittura icastica e sincopata che non dà scampo a immagini e parole | la scrittura abbandona l'universo colto e citazionista, cifra stilistica del precedente 'le cose vanno usate le persone vanno amate', e approda a un linguaggio scarno e minimale, con echi di un immaginario visivo americano che tende a Richard Yates, Raymond Carver, Sherwood Anderson e John Fante

mentre i lavori precedenti accostano liriche intime e familiari alla ricerca linguistica di poeti come Fabio Pusterla e Michele Mari, 'le metamorfosi' si spinge oltre la frontiera, abbracciando la cultura giapponese (kitsunetsuki), gli haiku (canto orfico) e la tradizione zen (le metamorfosi) | oltre alla già citata America degli States e della solitudine (passato remoto ed eccomi), si ascoltano
assonanze manouche tipicamente francesi e spensierate (lamerica), echi di psichedelia sospesi tra Syd Barrett e William Blake (medusa), caldi abbracci rassicuranti con atmosfere alla Penguin Cafe Orchestra (canto orfico e la costruzione di un guscio)

il tema della trasformazione passa così sottotraccia, da canzone a canzone, creando un leitmotiv che inizia con una voce che afferma rabbiosa: sono solamente un uomo e culmina con un canto
all'universo, che è curvo e si può bucare come un guscio per guardare fuori | all'interno delle undici canzoni, la creatura che canta vestirà di volta in volta la pelle degli alberi, di volpi, colombe e fiori | si allungherà in radici e rami, si scaverà una tana all'interno di un corpo, ne uscirà come da un guscio e assisterà con meraviglia alla metamorfosi di tutte le cose
