#BZM020: Diamn - Hot (Original Mix)

After a first EP from BNJMN, new Creme Organization label off shoot Jericho One now serves up a second release, this time from NOFACE. This is a moniker of Mella Dee, a producer who in the last few years has released rough house tracks on labels like Lobster Boy, Digital Soundboy and Omena. Here he offers three new pieces that show a passion for high energy, lo­fi tracks with inventive grooves.
‘Saturate’ is littered with old school signifiers but is essential a brutal, high power techno banger with immovable kick drums, slithering percussive patterns and fiery vocal ad libs that imbue the track with a sense of afro­futurism. ‘Polar’ is a similarly physical track with massive, monstrous kicks, reverberating synth lines and a barreling sense of groove that washes over you like a braking wave. Finally, ‘Warrior Charge’ is another physical and functional cut with robust drums, oversized hi hats and woodpecker like hook that demands you stomp and head bang from start to finish.

It was in 2014 when a mutual friend introduced me to Victor Ruiz while he was staying here in Berlin. I invited Victor to my studio where we had a fantastic session, playing our music to each other, listening to stuff we like and simply talkin and connecting. Since then, we became close friends as well as starting to work together. Victor has released two outstanding EPs on Electric Ballroom by now. This summer we met again and recorded three tracks. Jason Fernandes takes us into the deep. Jellyfish is the A side in his latest offering of twisted, deep techno. Lead hooks play in a floating and darker setting whilst contrary to this, the crisp production and clean heavy hitting lows power through. On the B side, Trenches provides a complimentary feel almost as an after thought, perhaps falling into the more ambient and chilled range in Fernandess techno productions. In the deepest of depths, the synths and pads float effortlessly with the current in both of these pieces, the murky yet rolling rhythms, hypnotising, provoking energy and movement out of the blue.

It’s been four years since my last own EP on Stockholm LTD.
The main reason for this is that I have been surrounded by music that has inspired
me much more than my own.

This EP was written and produced with strict narrow frames and a huge amount
of frustration. I was tired of waiting for the inspiration to kick in, then suddenly it
appeared with a strength that I haven’t felt for long time. I’m now curious for more.

While sketching the title track, ’Wyatt Arp’, I couldn’t get Detroit legend, Terrence
Dixon, out of my mind. Terrence is a long time hero of mine, and an artist that always
stays on the true side of what we do while most of us occasionally leave our paths.

Twin Turbo presents the debut release from Pilo, featuring three tracks to destroy whatever's left of 2012's dancefloors.

It's always a source of pride for the label to discover a new artist and shove him out onto the world stage to sink or swim into the playlists of all the huge names who pay rapt attention to everything we do. We were introduced to Pilo through Harvard Bass, who suggested his fellow Californian for remix duties on his own recent Twin Turbo release. Now, we're pleased to present Pilo's proper debut, the work of yet another huge young talent grinding it out for nu-techno supremacy.

"Ubstraktion (Jazz Yo Self Mix)" melds rave diva vox, an infectious siren hook, and high-BPM lysergic techno, leaving you wonder what the less jazzy mix could possibly sound like. Meanwhile, "Forte Inductance" strips away the nonsense to genuine "stripped-down, no-nonsense" levels, relying on a relentless kick, overdriven toms, and a melting MC vocal to  get the job done. Finally, "Trippin" gets you trippin' so hard that the term "after-hours warehouse banger-monster" seems to lose all meaning, before gaining way too much meaning.

Twin Turbo - closing out the year with new discoveries, new digital bombs, and new definitions of peak-time dominance. We'll see you in 2013 with music that reflects our world's inevitable Mad Max, dancing-in-the-breadline reality.
