Spring has arrived with added fervour here at Darkroom Dubs HQ, as Parisien maestro Prinze delivers four jubilant tracks heralding his much-anticipated label debut. His 'We Are Free' EP is a bold clarion call to the dancefloor that gives a mischievous nod to early '90s UK progressive house and the halcyon days of acid and rave culture while fully embracing a defined and distinctively psychedelic sonic vision of the future.

2025 will undoubtedly continue to be an eventful year for Prinze as he duly prepares a fistful of cosmic missives for his own Epicure Records and remix collaborations with Rotten City head honcho Alvaro Cabana and Silicone Soul. The latter is an acid dub of REMAIN & DaWad's 'Comatose' and is due to drop on Bogotá's Kaputt.wav label in early May. Much love x

PREMIERE: Prinze - We Are Free [Darkroom Dubs]

Music possesses an incredible ability to transform raw emotion into an expansive array of expression. Nackley knows this ideation well. Having spent years working behind the scenes as an agent, Bordello’s latest discovery now steps fully into the spotlight with Anger Management, channeling the turbulence of transition into sound.

Cathartic and charged compositions are at the heart of this four-track release. Acid-dipped keys are both delicate and direct in the driving highs of Return of the Gecko, a track pulsing with raw energy. The crueler side of the music industry isn’t so much parodied here as it is dismissed entirely—Nackley lets the music do the talking. Sublime Desolation is pure dancefloor dynamite, where synth sirens detonate and explosive rhythm commands movement.

Been A Long Time arrives dripping in attitude. Breaks and a juddering bassline face off with a hustling 303 hook, harmonies weaving through deep sonic textures. A renewed confidence courses through the release as Nackley explores a range of styles, closing with the synth romance of Heartbreaker—an addictive blend of keyboards, guitar strings, and enveloping vocals are the emotive ingredients of this tear-streaked work of 1980s-inspired joy.

And joy is exactly what Anger Management delivers—a healing triumph and a bold debut declaration from a rising talent.

Berlin-based italo-disco record label Slow Motion mark their return with the full-length release 'Cafe Futuro', the sophomore album from label boss Franz Scala...Our pick is the fifth track ‘Saxon Rebel’ - a sleek, hyper stylised descent into the nocturnal undercurrents of Northern Germany. Co-produced by Local Suicide, the track operates at a steady 120 BPM, maintaining an unflinching tension without ever rushing. A betrayal is an unexpected twist. A moment of schizophrenia where the world is turned upside down. We feel the curvature of the earth and it becomes explicit to us that there is something on the other side of our world that we didn't know. Or that we don't really know our world as we thought we did. It feels like a wobbling of the ground on which we tread, frantic, torn and passionate at the same time. But we can also betray ourselves. We betray ourselves by taking different paths that lead to places we did not think of. How does a betrayal sound, how does it feel, in what frequencies and energies does it vibrate? Ultimately, what is there is always an unforeseen. "Traiciones" plays with the idea of what we can feel when we feel betrayed, but also that the tracks themselves betray us, or by taking different paths than expected, by changing the bpm in the middle of the track, or by promising a track that will never exist.

Jason Peters is a DJ/Producer and the label boss of Roam Recordings. Over the last decade he and his label’s output have been at the forefront of the indie dance/dark disco movement. While his music centers around 80s italo, 90s rave, and contemporary indie dance and dark disco, you will also hear rare disco, psychedelic techno, and early house. 

Jason Peters is also a long time staple of the San Francisco dance music community where he plays regularly for some of SF’s more discerning clubs and promoters such as Sunset Sound System, Monarch, The Great Northern, and F8. On Jason Peters’ travels outside of the Bay Area he has played events such as SundaySunday, CRSSD festival, Block 9 at Glastonbury, Red Light Radio, Kater Blau, and the Alfresco festival.

Ransom Note puts it best: “Just like Jason's own productions, which also appear on the label, the music is dark and hypnotic, cosmic and driving - sounds that'll take you down a wormhole. There are a lot of labels and artists treading similar terrain these days, but Jason was spearheading this new wave of exciting and unique dance music a long time ago."
