Sonic XG Ost - Wood Works Zone Act 2

A finalization of Carnival Night Act 1 from the Sonic 3 11/03/93 build.

This song is actually slightly broken in the 1103 build as the universal sound bank in Sonic 3 was updated sometime before this build and the song wasn't yet updated to reflect these changes. As well as that some instrument changes aren't present from the Origins version.

In this 'finalization' I've aimed to bring these back with their correct instrument choices, as well as introducing some tweaks taking inspiration from Lava Reef Act 1 and Hydrocity Act 2.

Carnival Night Act 2 (prototype) - 'Hypothetical Final Version'

Arrange of Sky Chase predominantly using FM instrument patches from the DX7 and DX100, as well as Yamaha SY77 and KORG M1. Spent a ridiculous amount of time fine tuning this to sound like a lost tape/vinyl from the 80s, I'm really happy with how it turned out in the end.

Pitched the song up +580 cents on a whim, realized it was in a/the key that matches up with Bad, and as we all know, if there's one soundfont that should always have a few MJ songs under it's belt, it would be Wario Land 4.

Working on the wikky-waw was the biggest challenge making this song, and the most rewarding. I had to use Audacity to make it, which is kind of cheating, but I only used SS samples to do it, so My con-shince, issss kleer. I used bd1 and shaker1 to make it, with a lowered 808bd under it to give the rewind a more authentic sound. The noise which resembles the more traditional record scratch is the Net Swing sound being played at very high pitches.

Most of what I do revolves around the use of FM instrumentation, mainly the YM2612 sound chip used on the Sega Genesis; but I do make stuff outside of it sometimes. I use FM8 and Genny for most of what I do.
