I only spend about an hour on each track I make. I let the songs make themselves. 
That's always been my gimmick.

I make FM synth covers.
FM is my weapon of choice.

Most of what I do revolves around the use of FM instrumentation, mainly the YM2612 sound chip used on the Sega Genesis; but I do make stuff outside of it sometimes. I use FM8 and Genny for most of what I do.
