French producer Jats makes his Purified Records debut with his 3-track ‘Rituals of Dreams’ EP. Showcasing his powerful sound, this EP demands attention from the very first beat, exploring captivating soundscapes from the title track into ‘The Perfect Sky’, and ‘Lost Planet’.

The ‘Rituals of Dreams’ artwork features a stunning photograph of a zebra shark, captured by Daniel Nicholson. The zebra shark is a distinct shark species that inhabits shallow coral reef areas in tropical waters. Their unique adaptations include barbels for locating prey, a flexible body for navigating tight spaces and the ability to suck up prey with their small mouths and strong gill muscles. As they mature, they undergo a change in appearance, transforming from dark brownish with yellowish stripes as juveniles, to small black dots on a tan body. Zebra sharks are nocturnal foragers, hunting on small prey like fish, snails, sea urchins, crabs and invertebrates in crevices. They can grow to almost 12 feet in length and have few natural predators. Their main threat is human activities such as fishing for their meat, liver and fins. They are listed as endangered according to the IUCN.

The final edition of our free download series for 2021 welcomes Kenan Savrun for his first appearance. The Turkish artist has compiled an impressive resume since arriving on the progressive scene in 2019. Releases on Droid9, Mango Alley, Movement Recordings and Soundteller Records sit prominently in his discography, while his near two-decade long career as a DJ has seen him share the decks with Alex Niggemann, Artbat, Cid Inc, Nick Warren and Oliver Huntemann. In addition to his official production work, Kenan sometimes revisits his favourite records from the past and works on new interpretations to use in his sets and to share with his elite level contemporaries. Most recently the Ankara resident has turned his attention to iio’s ‘Rapture’, a track which dominated clubland in the early 2000’s. The end result was a triptastic progressive groover that is currently making the rounds with electronic music’s premiere tastemakers. Now as we enter into the holiday season we’re happy to offer the track as an exclusive free download. Enjoy!

Shockingly, less than 3% of the ocean is fully protected, which results in overfishing, bottom trawling, and other destructive activities that continue to wreak havoc on the ocean. Scientists say we must protect at least 30% of the ocean by 2030 to stabilize our climate, stop wildlife exploitation, and secure an equitable, healthy future for life everywhere.

The ‘Shiver’ artwork features a majestic image of a whale shark captured by Daniel Nicholson. Among the most iconic of sharks, the whale shark is the largest fish that exists today. The whale shark is found worldwide through all tropical and warm temperate seas, apart from the Mediterranean. Though they appear to prefer surface waters between 21-24 degrees C, they make regular dives down to 1000 meters. One of the biggest scientific mysteries is where the pregnant females give birth, though there is some evidence that the Philippines may host a nursery ground. Because of their importance to local tourism economies, whale sharks are fully protected in Mexico, Belize, and Honduras. Organizations like the MarAlliance focus on research, conservation, and community engagement to protect threatened marine species, including whale sharks and rays.
