The half remembered words sit waiting on your tongue
Where were you when this story was begun?

The language shared between you
Not enough to continue
So you parted ways and oceans
Leaving love a passing notion

The half forgotten words sit waiting on your tongue
Where were you when this story was begun?

Your life so full of secrets
Tumbled with regret
They lie heavy on your heart and lungs
Unshared, choking, songs never sung

The half learnt words sit waiting on my tongue
Where was I when this story was begun?

An old soul waiting to be born
Another lifetime's learning waiting to take form
Child of fire and water lost at sea
A ship without an anchor drifting free
