Joints & Jams w/ BeatPete - July 2023

Norah Jane and Mor.lov are back with another genre-bending track, "Come Around", featuring the hushed, smoky vocals of Razeen. This standout from their forthcoming album, ‘GODSPEED’, beautifully fuses neo-soul, trip-hop, and hip-hop influences into a moody, atmospheric soundscape. With its haunting Rhodes piano chords setting the tone, the track feels like a late-night reflection on love and longing.

"Come Around" invites listeners into a world of fluid, genre-defying music. The interplay between Norah Jane and Razeen's vocals creates a dreamlike tension, as the two voices weave in and out of one another with an almost hypnotic effect. Razeen’s blunted delivery pairs perfectly with Norah’s softer, more melodic tone, drawing you into the emotional core of the song.

The production, helmed by Mor.lov, leans into a neo-soul-meets-trip-hop vibe, blending downtempo beats with jazzy undertones. Towards the end of the track, a delicate flute melody enters, lifting the song into a softer, more contemplative space as it fades out. Mor.lov notes.

"Come Around" captures the spirit of collaboration that has driven Norah Jane and Mor.lov's work from the beginning, combining their own styles with Razeen’s unique vocal touch. The track hints at the vast sonic landscape of ‘GODSPEED’, an album that traverses everything from jazz fusion and DnB to lofi-jazzy beats, all anchored by Norah's rich vocals.

Mor.Lov tell us, "Creating this album has been a significant journey, both challenging and rewarding. What started as the idea for an EP eventually grew into a full album, with the entire process taking about a year. We began with 34 demos and gradually narrowed it down to 16 tracks. Throughout, it was all about exploring ideas, getting into the studio, and letting the music take shape naturally.

Working with Norah and the other artists was an incredible experience. The process was intuitive—whether I was playing keys or drums, we would bounce ideas off each other, finding the right direction without overthinking it. Of course, there were some creative disagreements along the way, but once we focused on the music, something beautiful always emerged. I think this is completely natural when both parties are striving for the best possible result. The collaboration with session musicians also added immense depth and richness to the final product. Looking back, I’m grateful for every part of the journey—the challenges, the moments of harmony, and the creative flow we discovered together."
