This release consist of a downtempo electronic track with sung lyrics and a computer generated music video. This piece was initially inspired by the apparent disparity between government dialogue on financial help during the early stages of the covid crisis, and their symultanious expectation that medical professionals should freely give up their lives in the line of duty. I actually wrote and recorded the song in lock down however the music video and final mix were completed more recently. Although the track was inspired by current events I wanted the listener to be transported to an analogous sci-fi dystopian struggle.

This is my remix of Pixie by James Harcourt. This was an entry to the official remix contest run by Sincopat. Although I didn't win, I was proud to be shortlisted. Sincopat and James Harcourt have kindly given me permission to share my entry on my public sound cloud account. I hope you enjoy it!

James Harcourt - Pixie (Michael Joyce Remix)

This track meanders through several distinct sections and features electric guitar and abstract vocals from me as well as some excellent vocals from Tegan Palmer. There is a corresponding music video to accompany this track that I made using Deforum. The track came about as an experiment in clipping. I was having fun smashing elements into a saturator and this track popped out. There are probably some influences of Max Cooper in the later baselines however there are also elements of John Hopkins as well as psychedelic progressive techno. Any way I hope you enjoy it!

This started out as me noodling on my synth but quickly spiralled into a homage to the sound tracks of Strange Things and Utopia.
Played some guitar over this one also which gives it some post rock vibes. It gets quite dancy near the end so I may think about incorporating this into my stage show at some point.
