Modular Suitcase

Dans le morceau suivant, Tides joue tour à tour le rôle de LFO, de générateur d'enveloppe et d'oscillateur.  
La première partie est un drone à quatre pistes. Chacune animée par un LFO dédié de Tides en mode " différentes fréquences ".  Beaucoup d'effets ajoutés dans le séquenceur audio (Reaper) également.
Puis deux pistes de " basse " jouées avec le Korg SQ-1.  Tides joue ici son rôle d’oscillateur audio.   Même patch, réglages différents.  Les variations sont soit la fréquence du filtre Ripples, soit les paramètres « shape » et « smoothness » de Tides.  Ceux-ci ont un effet dramatique sur le son évidemment.
Enfin, Tides sert d'enveloppe des différentes parties de batterie.

This five-track piece was recorded on a single session.  No detailed patch today but a light description.

Ornament & Crime with the Pique application generates the three envelopes for the drums using the included euclidian rythm patterns. 

Kick is Ripples filter pinged and modulated by OCP envelope number 1.

Light clap is a sine wave ringed modulated with white noise in A*B+C with OCP envelope number 2.

Hi-Hat is pink noise mixed with triangle into Erica Synth high-pass filter with OCP envelope number 3.

Patterns for clap and hi-hat are controlled via control voltage, hence the variations.  Clap is controlled via sequencer, hi-hat density is controlled by a random source. 

Swoosh effects is white noise into Rings into Beads, with Tides and other sources as modulation.

DAW : Reaper.  Additional effects on Hi-Hat include a dotted 8th note delay. Other effects: stereo diffusion, compressor on drums and bass, some reverb on drums, tons of EQ.

Main synth : Modular Suitcase

Main part is the PWM output of Doepfer A110-1 VCO into the DIY filter.  Each of the filter output (LP, BP, HP) is treated in a different path and recorded separately.  Low pass takes the role of the bass, band pass gives some overtone and high pass gives the high pitch percussions.
The Korg SQ-1 sequences the lot.  There is a single sequence in two modes : zip of 16 steps on intro, and bridge, 2 lines of 8 steps (one for low pass, one for high pass) for the verses and outro.  Percussion line is driven by the Turing Machine.  Filter frequency is driven by two envelopes and manipulated by hand as well.

Wind effects are pink noise to Doepfer DIY filter, mixing HP and LP before going to the VCA.

Lead synth is a mix of saw and square wave through Doepfer DIY filter.  Portamento courtesy of Rampage.

Pads are a mix of the modular and the addition of pads from PoliSix emulation from Korg Legacy Collection, with heavy use of chorus.

Doepfer On Acid

What would it be like to orbit the black hole ?

Track made for the 39th season of "Compositions Inspirées" from Audiofanzine.

The theme is the image : 'Gargantua' black hole from the movie Interstellar.

Music is entirely generated by my modular suitcase.  This is a live session.  
Drone is two detuned saw waves into Erica Synth VCF.
Percussion is a mix of Rings and a sine through phaser.
Other synth track with PWM into Ripples, animation with TAL Filter 2.
Melody by Turing Machine and 2hp Tune.

Orbiting Gargantua

Exemple de ce que peux apporter un slew limiter en portamento sur le contrôle de hauteur (pitch CV) des oscillateurs.

Du pattern original, les modifications suivantes ont lieu :
- augmentation de la fréquence de coupure du filtre
- slew limiter 
- modification de l'enveloppe.
et retour.

Synthé modulaire.  Deux oscillateurs en dent de scie, légèrement désaccordés.  Filtre passe-bas résonnant. 
Séquenceur Korg SQ-1.  Enregistré sous Reaper.  Effets : compresseur et légère réverbe.
