After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's in Los Angeles, a teenage David Flores was hooked. He started DJing across Southern California on the DIY warehouse, backyard, desert, and rave circuit. His style then was as varied as the local scene - a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore. After a few years solely DJing, he began releasing original music under the monikers David F & Audio Injection, which landed him on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with Droid Behavior began in 2003 as resident at the now defunct yet infamous and internationally acclaimed Interface event series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. He currently runs a new event series together with Drumcell and Oktaform named “Observe”.

In early 2011, he started the project Truncate to focus on the deeper, raw side of techno. His Truncate releases early on gained critical acclaim from world class underground talent such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Eats Everything, Joris Voorn, and many more. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum including Kink, Slam, Loco Dice, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Ellen Alien, Miss Kittin, Carl Cox & Nicole Moudaber. He has also released original works on 50 Weapons, Ultramajic, Blueprint, Ei8ht, Figure and of course his own imprint Truncate. He has also collaborated with Jimmy Edgar, Chambray and most recently started a new project with Ben Sims as ‘Assailants’ which they’ve released on their own imprint ‘Obscurity Is Infinite’.

A rigorous international tour schedule has since followed, including stops and regular appearances at the most prestigious venues and events, including Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, Concrete in Paris, The Movement Festival in Detroit, Womb in Tokyo, Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Awakenings in Amsterdam, Output in New York, and many more.

With his heavy remix, production and touring schedule there is still no slowing down for David. He continues to shape an evolving sound and to champion the Los Angeles underground.

Darkmode has established himself as a prominent figure in the high-paced Techno music scene over the past decade. His journey began with the release of 'The DATA EP' on Testin Out Records, which caught the attention of influential figures such as Andrew Weatherall, Radioactive Man, Regis, and DJ Bone.

As both a producer and DJ, Darkmode quickly rose to prominence, earning recognition from prestigious platforms like DJ MAG's Pick N' Mix and IDJ Magazine's Raw Talent Selection. His DJ sets have graced numerous parties, raves, and festivals across the UK & Ireland, where he has shared the stage with esteemed artists including Radioactive Man, Ben Long, Phil Kieran, Marco Bailey, Ignition Technician, Bas Mooy, DJ 3000, Scan 7, and Dave Clarke.

Darkmode's music releases, alongside his own label Biotech Recordings, have consistently garnered significant support within the techno community, solidifying his position as a driving force in the genre.

I have been a musician and producer for 35 years with releases on Wolf Trap, MixTape, On Test, Deca Rhythm, Domestica, Taro Records, Low Noise Productions, Wolf Trap and Werra Foxma I formed electronic post punk band Twelve 88 Cartel in 1984, was bass player in Psylons and later formed Seatman Separator with former Psylons playmates Keith Seatman and Jack Packer.

Since making my club DJ debut at Geushky in Portsmouth in 1995 I've played alongside some of techno’s finest names including Regis, Mark Broom, Oliver Ho, Truss, Ancient Methods, Darren Price, Billy Nasty, Ian Void, Umek, Aubrey, Actress, Luke Slater, Terry Mitchell Nax Acid and many more and have performed live A/V shows for Plex and Colony at Corsica Studios.

On radio I currently have a monthly show on Seance Radio which is broadcast on Sundays at 5pm and has featured guest mixes from The Gasman, DVNT, Stephanie Merchak, Lair, TVO, Kritzkom, Hence Therefore, Inge K and Dot Product and many others. I have also recorded guest mixes for Decoding The Void, Taro Records, Le Catalyste, Recovery Radio Show, A Darker Wave, Bleep43 and Det Sync. I also did a monthly show on Fnoob Techno Radio for two years which had guests including Billy Allen, Kamikaze Space Programme, Hiroaki Iizuka and Manni Dee.
