JayGetsBusy got his start in the entertainment industry at a very young age. As a youth living in Washington D.C., he and his two brothers formed a group called The 3-Jays, where they would perform at different schools and venues in the Washington D.C. inner city, rapping to kids about the importance of staying away from drugs. While his brothers were the MC's, Jay was the group’s beat-maker, producing harmonious beats with one instrument, his mouth, being the group’s beatboxer. The short stint in the limelight would shape his entertainment career.

While attending college at the University at Buffalo, Jay found himself reacquainted with the entertainment industry, when he developed the University’s first Hip Hop and R&B radio show at a traditional indie rock station on campus. His show, “Live from the Booth” was an instant hit and was the highest rated radio program within the first month of it’s broadcast. He saw a void and capitalized on it in such a way that he paved the way for other urban radio hosts to come in to the station which, in turn, transformed the culture of radio on the campus. Upon graduating from the University at Buffalo, Jay was approached by a college friend with the idea of starting a DJ crew together. Being open to the idea, Jay reached out to another college DJ friend of his, and the three of them would form the group known as MyTUNEZ. The group was very reminiscent of Jay’s childhood group, The 3-Jays, where Jay served as the group’s MC. You put a mic in his hand and he definitely moved the crowd! His infectious voice helped propel MyTUNEZ to being one of the most sought after DJ crews in Buffalo and Western New York. At the height of their popularity, MyTUNEZ was able to open for such high profile acts such as Nas, Ludacris, Slick Rick & KRS One, just to name a few. They have also played along side many prominent DJ’s such as Biz Markie, DJ Prostyle, DJ Cipha Sounds and many more.

After a successful run with MyTUNEZ, Jay decided to step from behind the mic to branch off and focus on a solo DJ career. Whether it be in Buffalo and Western New York, Toronto, New York City or at a private event, Jay certainly knows how to keep the crowd rocking. He draws a lot of his inspiration from DJ’s that paved the way for him on both the national and local levels and it’s proven every time he steps behind the tables and picks up the mic.
