Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is thrilled to welcome home one of pioneer producers who helped shape the label since the very beginning. German-based nu funk producer Jayl Funk has team up with funk trio/live act from the UK called Tarzan Bros and together they have created a true funk anthem with original vocals and grooves that sounds like it was done back in the glory days of soul and funk. And the goodness doesn’t stop here, because on the remix duties we have some of the very best funk producers from around the world to do their take on these original samples. All the way from the US we got the legendary soldiers of nu funk: All Good Funk Alliance, and from the UK a specialist in breaks and funk Mr. Skeewiff. Finally Yamaha (The Strike Boys, Wall of Sound) and Eletrico (Trio Eletrico, Stereo Deluxe Records) delivers the final remix for this EP.

Most of the people involved on this EP need no introduction as they are already well-established names in the scene but we are very excited to be introducing the Tarzan Bros crew, who originates from Greece but now lives in the UK and delivers original vocals, funky guitar riffs as well as Sax on these tunes.
There is not denying the funky grooves on this record that seamlessly joins in live jazzy saxophones with beats and breaks from the nu funk master Jayl Funk.

Jayl Funk has gone and done it again and cooked up another wonderful funk tune that we are very happy to be releasing as it takes us back to how it all got started here on BBP with his first release dating back to 2008.

At BBP we are very please to finally release another Jayl Funk EP and once again represent our funk roots and party fucking jams for early warm-up sets as well as peak-time bangers… We are here to keep the funk alive…

Smoove is the archetypal B Boy made good. Despite his huge international success with Smoove & Turrell and his ability to craft jazz, soul, latin, hip hop and funk into world beating dancefloor killers – he can still be found every weekend he’s not playing live jumping on a plane or a train to go and DJ in Germany , Russia , Italy, Ibiza or just down to Manchester,  Bristol or London wherever his diary tells him he has to go..

Wherever it is, his incredible skills behind the decks mean that he gets asked back and the breadth of the music seamlessly joined by his turntablist skills jumps from disco to funk, jazz to soul, hip hop to house and back again. 

The endless flights, trains and hotel rooms are dead time to some DJ’s but Smoove is always creating new tunes for his set on the fly and working his different influences into the remixes and productions he is currently on. There were at least 40 remixes that could have been  included on this album but in the end he chose the ones that worked best together and made the album flow like one of his legendary DJ sets.

The album contains a number of exclusives including the Smoove remix of the new Third Degree track and a killer smoove remix of Afrka Bambataa, Charlie Funk and King Kamonzi. The Smoove remix of Da Wiesel has only ever been available on vinyl before and his amazing remix of Electric Empire remains unreleased (unbelievably) in many European territories.

Smoove started his recording career for the legendary Acid Jazz label releasing two albums as a solo artist before signing to Jalapeno Records with partner John Turrell to release two hugely successful Smoove & Turrell albums. Their last album was playlisted extensively at Radio 2 and tracks from the album have been used in more than ten film and TV syncs – making Smoove & Turrell  the new darlings of the LA film community.

Smoove is touring with the Smoove & Turrell live band, recording the next S&T album, DJ’ing every weekend and he also just became a dad.   Where does he find the time ?
