Nuremberg's Jurgen Ludwig, aka Jayl Funk, knows his soul music inside and out and here he delivers four fresh new jams via Goodgroove. They're all pretty high quality scalpel jobs, as per usual. "SixxThree Aight" is all heavy breaks and tight licks, "Piece Of Mine" is some classy disco funk, "Supernatural Babe" is some excellent low down boogie and "Still Together" is a hands-in-the-air 70s soul gem.

A Newcastle band whose updated take on mixing electronica with a classic rhythm & blues sound, encompassing funk, soul and rock & roll with one of the most charismatic and powerful singers the UK has seen since The Spencer Davis Group.

After a phenomenal 2009 with gigs across the UK and Europe and the release of their widely acclaimed album “Antique Soul”, Smoove and Turrell are available for bookings in 2011 with their full seven piece live band. Their set will include the cream of “Antique Soul” as well as showcasing some of the tracks from their forthcoming album, “Eccentric Audio”. (Due for release April 2011)
Smoove and Turrell have a massive following across the UK and regularly appear on the play lists of Craig Charles, BBC 6 Funk & Soul Show.	Craig also put pen to paper to write the sleeve notes for the album “Antique Soul” and invited their 7 piece band down to Manchester to perform a live session on his Radio show, this followed another live session on BBC Radio 2’s Janice Long show and a further live session on BBC Radio 4. Over 2009, they had 2 records of the week on Radio 2 and a Play list on BBC6 music.
The leader singer John was picked to be the vocalist for the fantasy Funk band put together by 6 Music to celebrate 75 years of Maida Vale, They played gigs all over including Glastonbury, The Big Chill Festival & Kendal Calling to name a few.
In 2009, Smoove and Turrell released some outstanding singles working with some of the best remix artists in the country and beyond.
�	“I Can’t Give You Up” includes club remixes from A Skillz and Lack of Afro.
�	“You Don’t Know” was smashed for the dance floor with remixes from Kraak and Smaak and Featurecast
�	“Don’t Go” was a limited 7” of the 80s classic. Smoove and Turrell style... some serious funk.
�	“Beggarman” with heavy remixes from Crazy P and Basement Freaks

"Borneo fits into the category of what I call "super jazz", ie: Jazz that is great for everyone and every "body". It's taken from Cal Tjader's early 60's LP; 'Several Shades Of Jade' on Verve. The back of the jacket states: "The sound and feeling of the music of the Orient combine with the freedom of American Jazz"  and I featured it on my 'Funk The World 13' mix for Fort Knox Five. This edit (really a remix, but the terminology has changed lately) is part of a new series I'll be doing called "G got the Jazz"; a result of people really yearning to hear & dance to some different & amazing sounds. There is a TONNE of awesome, potentially danceable Jazz music that can really keep the party going IF given the right treatment (drums & sub bass in this instance). Having first been used in Hip Hop by Daddy Kev for his track with Awol; "Rhythm", this edit is a sureshot winner for eclectic dj's and crowds the world over.
