JayQuan is an accomplished M.C. , D.J. and producer as well as a staple in the V.A. Hip Hop scene. His sound can be described as containing the elements of traditional Hip Hop (drum and beat heavy with scratching and samples) with the energy and delivery of today’s best wordsmiths. JayQuan is the founding member of both the Too Def Crew and The First Sons, and has worked with many legends in the Hip Hop genre both known and not so known. In addition to his solo output, JayQuan is one half of CSJQ – a Funk / Rock / Hip Hop fusion group along with multi instrumentalist and vocalist Clayton Savage. Labeling his music as “Grown folks Hip Hop”, JayQuan continues to etch his own lane musically; proclaiming that “there is an unspoken rule that rap and the art of emceeing are only for teens and the very young. This is a falsehood however. There is a whole generation of Hip Hop fans who birthed and nurtured the genre , and are waiting for the genre to grow up just as they did”.
