Mr. Kind’s forthcoming EP, Wide Awake | Open Eyes,  underlines its talent for sonic alchemy, fusing soaring guitar, magnetic vocals, and introspective lyrics into its signature brand of electro-infused Americana. Recorded at TRI Studios, the recording studio founded by the legendary Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead, Wide Awake | Open Eyes is the biggest studio production of the Oakland-based five piece to date.

Since its inaugural release, OK, Mr. Kind has departed from rough-around-the-edges garage folk rock to the dense electronic leanings of their second EP, Mr. Kind.  The band was originally formed to perform the recorded solo material of lead singer-songwriter Brian Bergeron, but Wide Awake | Open Eyes represents each band members’ continually expanding involvement in the songwriting process. Now the band’s roster includes Jonathan Devoto (ex-The Matches), Geoff McCann (ex-Please Do Not Fight), Matt Roads, and Peter Smith.

“No Questions Asked,” the lead off track, marks another stage in the band’s evolution, navigating a more alt-country style with minimal electronic elements.  “Good Enough” possesses textures of 90s alt-rock and electropop.  “Glory” is a solemn tune of young love lost. Lastly, “Hourglass” echoes the soundscapes of classic rock, conjuring the band’s Wilco influence.

Aortix (formerly Infernal Dimensions) was a death metal band from Napa, California in the USA. We bring to you a sound that is one part old-school death metal, another part new-school death metal, with an edge all our own.
