Jazz-o-Tech welcomes back Berlin pair Flat Maze for a second EP on the label following their Dick Dunker EP in 2018. This time they combine scintillating jazz and electronic sounds on Gran Canaria, a five tracker which includes remixes from Arnaud Le Texier and Dinamite.

This pair is made up of Italian Stefano Mori on electronics and guitar, and Tel-Aviv born Uri Gincel on piano. The former is well known in Berlin having played live and DJed with various collectives, and the latter toured the world as an in demand piano player before immersing himself in electronic music and collaborating with the likes of Mathew Herbert. Together they find a perfect sweet spot between instrumental jazz solos and deep techno drums and always take you on an escapist trip.

The opening track emerged from the beach of Los Palomas in Gran Canaria, where the sun and the wind of the dunes inspired Stefano to create the rhythm and bass, while Uri added the melancholic, Latin jazz piano line. The result is a gorgeous track that washes over you like a warm breeze as dancing keys bring real dynamism. 'Petardo Boy' featuring Sebastian Studnitsky on trumpet is inspired by an eccentric and explosive character from Berlin. It started with a melancholic riff by Uri before Stefano developed an electronic composition as wild as the personality of Petardo Boy himself. The drifting trumpet up top is romantic and late night, the drums are deep and the mood intimate. Last of all, 'Golden Cat' features a scratchy electronic riff inspired by Uri's cat. It's a textured centre piece around which pulsing drums, snapping hits and haunting jazz keys all move freely.

Arnaud Le Texier steps up to remix 'Gran Canaria' and flip sit into a slick and quick techno workout with majestic melodies and tender chords, while Dinamite flips 'Petardo Boy' into a menacing, broken beat and glitchy techno weapon for darkened warehouses.

This EP once again perfectly embodies the mission of our unique label.

In July 2025, our friends, the Avantgarden Crew, invited Lars Hemmerling and Pat Flanders to the Community Gathering in the Monom Bar of the legendary Funkhaus Berlin, where the two of them stood behind the decks together for the first time.
Still, their gathering felt and sounded more like a team that has been working together forever than an improvised set. 

If you were there, you know that. If not, much of their performance was recorded to give you a flavor of this great evening/night of performances and exhibitions, and perhaps a taste of what's to come.

A record label that just celebrated its third anniversary, focusing on experimental techno, hypnotic techno, minimalism, ambient, and sci-fi. We also highlight the search for new talent and support them in their discovery process. It also seeks collaborations with more established artists on the global scene.

Linderluft is showcasing the Artist John Plaza.

The Chilean artist based in Barcelona is the owner and founder of Linderluft Records. His sound is characterized by minimalist percussions, continuous atmospheres, breakbeat rhythms and a search for mental journeys and movements. Since he started producing, he has released music on labels such as: KVLTÖ Records, Annulled Music, Fur:ther Sessions, BAHN· Records, The Gods Planet, Postdynamic, Inner Tension, Space Textures, Khoros,  Circular Limited, to name a few.

We can also highlight his active collaboration in more than 40 podcasts worldwide, sharing his vision of deep and hypnotic techno. Monument Podcast and The Memoir by Hypnus Records are his most important contributions. Episode 08: Meridian.r

This eighth foray into the otherworld is helmed by another resident of the UK’s North - Sheffield based Meridian.r. Curator of the excellent Cycle podcast - formally an event series bringing some top tier deep techno talent to an intimate warehouse in the Steel City - it is currently a series of mixes that shines a light on the northern adjacent left-field electronics scene.

No stranger to helming the decks himself, having been pushing the deep grooves at the likes of the iconic Groundwork and Magnetic North as well as his own events, we had the fine selections of Meridian.r on showcase at one of our recent monthly gatherings - wandering through a delightful garden of sounds that fit very well with our own tastes here at Portal.

Another entry into the series composed entirely on a pair of 1210s, Meridian.r’s mix weaves from the depths of ambient oceans through dub techno infused breaks and chuggers, the energy building tacitly until equilibrium is found in a heady concoction of hypnotic techno that rides the interplay between drive and groove in style. See you on the other side.

What Lies Beyond 08: Meridian.r

Deftly merging her background in sound design with techno and its real world applications, Toxido Mask is a shadowy DJ/Producer who calls Berlin home and has been challenging the fringe of her craft for over a decade. Her fastidious selections and skill on the decks are nothing short of legendary, providing experiences that rumble and vibrate with mystical power, characterised by a raw intensity and fragile balance between ‘harmony and disharmony, clarity and distortion’, a testament to the transformative nature of the genre and her keen understanding of it. She’s a Tresor resident and curator of the OMM Transmission Podcast and party series, an outlet for further explorations into the murky world of this defiant sound. Productions too have offered a glimpse into the shifting sands of her percussive mayhem with releases on Semantica Records, Aneelhi and Pregnant Void. Toxido’s paradigm has found form wherever possible and proven her singular vision can constantly change and provoke. Bassiani Podcast 274 is a dose of primal techno that radiates and consumes its listener, expansive and potent beats from a formidable talent.

Hypnotic Black Magic is a Berlin and Lisbon-based DJ and producer, renowned for her trippy and uplifting sets that take audiences on euphoric journeys.
She is also the head behind the well-established label and event series Art Bei Ton, shaping since 2018 her vision of the scene through hypnotic sounds, psychedelic visuals and gender-balanced line ups.

Inspired by nostalgic and avant-garde electronic sounds since her early teenage years, HBM has developed her music taste around hypnotic techno, atmospheric ambient, psychedelic sounds and IDM/tribe. Collecting tracks with a preference for loopy patterns, dreamy pads, groovy rhythms, and trancey basslines, HBM’s goal is to drive the audience through a cathartic journey - 

On the production side, Hypnotic Black Magic released her EP ‘Passages’ on Art Bei ton in Feb 2025, as well as some tracks on some VAs. She's currently working on her first album, planned for March 2026!

Art Bei Ton Podcast ¹³⁷: Hypnotic Black Magic

Since its early days Jazz music has always been experimentatal, trying to contaminate, and integrate different cultures, styles and musical philosophies. Along the years, jazz movement expanded and diversified in many different genres and styles. Electronic music has also always been exprimental and the avant-garde of electronic musicians explored new technologies and new styles of music. Today the two musical frontieers meet and the contamination between jazz and electronic music will enrich both musical languages, changing the grooves but keeping the same depth and spirit of the two genres.
Jazz-o-Tech is born in order to merge tradition with modernity, improvisation and experimentation, and to create a new style: Techno-Jazz. Finally the elegant arrangements and intricated solos of jazz can develop along the modern structures of Techno and Electronica, taking the listeners on an emotional, hypnotic and intense journey, making us think that future is not that far away.

For its debut release the new label, based between Berlin and Milan, is presenting the new representatives of Techno-Jazz. In this 12' vinyl all the artists represent the new concept that Jazz-o-Tech wants to promote. The argentinian sound designer and experimental musician Paine' is presenting a strong but elegant track full of jazz quotes and pulsing with swing. The DN3 trio (DJ and producer Guido Nemola, trumpet player Cesare Dell'Anna and pianist Mauro Tre) in their track "Lee Theme" mixes elegantly original jazz improvisation and a house inspired rythmic section. Berlin based duo Flat Maze (producer Stefano Mori and pianist Uri Gincel) play with techno grooves and with experimental raw and meditative sounds, but they still leave enough room for silence and emotions. Gamapawa are our final act, probably the most Jazz of all, definitely very much focused on experimenting new forms of contamination of Jazz and Electronica. In "Nobossa" DJ and electronic producer Paine Cuadrelli, trumpet player Mario Mariotti, japanese synth player Gak Sato and bass player Walter Prati (with guest appearance by saxophonist Gianni Mimmo) are providing the finest example of a cross over electronic experimental act which leaves the listeners with plenty of musical references and inspiring moments.

"Torino Unlimited Noise” (T.U.N), is an electronic jazz band founded in 2018 by Gianni Denitto (sax), Fabio Giachino (synth) and Mattia Barbieri (drums).
T.U.N. project, by mixing the experiences of all band members, wants to create a sound which is a blend of electronic music, refined harmonic progressions and improvisation, creating a very distinctive sound in order to reach a wide and mixed audience. 
The trio was founded in 2018 and is publishing its first EP manifesto with Jazz-o-Tech combining the three original tracks with two remixes from high-class techno scene artists: Vsk and Aleja Sanchez, that prepared an experimental and a dancefloor-oriented versions of Jason.

Torino Unlimited Noise is an homage to the city of Turin, to it's sounds, its industrial soul and its underground soul which pushes us all to a more human dimension and to a serch for a soulfoul beauty.

Milan and Berlin label Jazz-o-Tech continues on its mission to imbue the most cutting edge electronic music with the freeform creative spirit of jazz with a new EP from Healing Force Project. The Italian offers up two terrific originals while stndrd and T Kode remix.

Since 2010, Healing Force Project has established himself as someone who explores the outer edges of techno with his own atypical, anarchic and spontaneous creations. Coming on labels like Acido, Firecracker, Bedouin and in album format on amenthia recordings, his music always layers up free-jazz melodies and drums into intoxicating sonic landscapes unlike any other. Because of that, he is a perfect fit for this label where technology and improvisation, innovation and tradition all come together to make exciting new forms.

Exquisite opener 'Parallel Universe' is a spacious affair with tumbling drums, loose hits and splashes of cymbals run through with distant toms. Everything is off grid and live sounding, with uneven chords played over the top to make for something beautifully unusual and thoughtfully cosmic. As the winding rhythms unfold and the drums grow more propulsive, so does the element of mystery and intrigue.  

Stepping up to remix is T Kode, who is known for his complex and powerful sounds in the booth and the studio and has released on the likes of Blackwater. He layers in a rugged bassline that moves things forwards with real purpose, but the off kilter keys, staccato effects, chords and sci-fi sounds keep things thoroughly avant-garde and unusual.

The second original, 'Temporal Pole', again suspends you in an astral plane but is a little darker and more paranoid. Noodling keys drift in and out, cymbals are gently feathered, wooden hits add movement and the whole ting is in constant movement, changing shape and leading you further down the rabbit hole.

Subsist and 91 Records associate stndrd then remixes and delivers his trademark powerful emotions in a rumbling deep techno version that gets you in a state of hypnosis and keeps you there with eerie key motifs and dancing drums.

This is a perfect fusion of two very different worlds into one fascinating and unconventional new sound.

Temporal Pole

Avant-garde French trio Bada-Bada step up to Jazz-o-Tech with a standout new 8 track EP titled simply “II”
that finds fascinating new emotion where jazz and techno collide. It features six originals plus remixes by
Fabrizio Rat and Distant Echoes.
Bada-Bada consider themselves a Trans-Jazz band who create with a freeform musical discourse that is
heavily reliant on improvisation. They have a sound that is haunting and emotional, textural and diverse,
and that blurs the lines between the organic and the synthetic. Explosively mixing keys, synths, sax and
trumpet with very modern studio techniques they channel different influences from Steve Reich to Radio-
head to David Bowie, both in the studio and at their impressive live gigs.
Opener 'R4G3' is a blistering track with suspensory chords keeping you on edge while manic drum playing
hurries along. Add in the squealing synths and brass and you have a brilliantly intense workout. 'Venus' is a
more laid back track with more loose drums, and again exquisite horns sounds and a dense mix of synths
that are truly electrifying. 'Bada-Bada' strikes a more thoughtful and reflective note, with lingering chords
drifting off to the cosmos next to sombre sax, and 'Maria João' continues the reflective vibe with a quiet and
reflective piece of jazz sax with subtle piano accompaniments that builds to a big wall of intense sound, fizz-
ing synths and pounding drums. 'Shiva' takes you on a freeform trip to spine tingling heights with textured
synths and manic trumpets all speaking of real pain and loss and finally, 'TLLNN Part 2' washes over you
with mellifluous drum grooves, idyllic chords and a real sunset vibe that is powered by a tight rhythm sec-
tion.
Pianist and techno producer Fabrizio Rat fuses his classical piano with contemporary techno in fascinating
new ways on labels like this one as well as 24H Records. His remix of 'R8G3' is a powerful, stripped back
techno jazz roller with forceful kicks and plenty of atmosphere in the wandering sax sounds up top.
Dystopian label associate and Out-er co-owner Distant Echoes appeared on this label's vital THIS IS TECHNO
JAZZ. VOL 1 compilation and follows up with a superb remix here. It is awash with rueful chords and organic
pianos and has a perfectly airy dub techno groove that floats you through space.

This EP is a collaboration between finnish artists Aki Himanen (trumpet, electronics) and Aleksi Kinnunen (drums) with remixes from PEG and Polygonia, and again fuses both jazz and techno sensibilities to come up with superbly forward looking and sleek new sounds.

Aki Himanen and Aleksi Kinnunen are jazz musicians and techno producers who combine jazz's spontaneity and electronic music's dark soundscapes. Using generative techniques and interacting machines, they have been working together since 2019 and released debut album Scapes earlier in 2020. Now they are back with more of their cinematic sound and dystopian landscapes on this fine new EP.

Opener 'Dawn Drops 'is a lush piece that sweeps you off your feet with suspensory synths and floating trumpet lines rising out into a one sky. Rubbery drums roll below to keep you tethered to a grover and the whole thing is a luxuriant and soothing piece. The beautifully dark 'Plastic Rain' builds on live drums and pulsing bass, with sombre trumpets bringing a forlorn mood as hits and rim shots are scattered through the air.

A club-ready remix of this one comes from Spanish techno artist PEG, an associate of the Dynamic Reflection label who fuses techno, ambient, dark beats and techno old and new into his music. He flips the track into a much more driving and deep techno tune that is designed to get you into a state of hypnosis as it races late into the night on spooky synths and powerful kicks.

Last of all, Munich based artist and musician Lindsey Wang aka Polygonia steps up. She is a master of rhythm and composition and brings this to a haunting and serene techno track laced with ambient mysticism and subtle pads that melt your mind.

This is another high class coming together from the worlds of jazz and techno to form something utterly new and exciting.

Jazz-o-Tech is a label that draws on the rich heritage of two of the most visionary and experimental genes in music: jazz and techno. Taking inspiration from the freeform creative nature of those two musical worlds, artists on the label mix tradition with modernity, improvisation with experimentation, and create a new sound known as techno-jazz. Modern music needs to be ambitious. It must aim to deliver a musical message which is one step beyond what has already been heard. It must take you on a new musical journey into unknown dimensions and emotions. That is the Jazz-o-Tech mission.
