From the viewpoint of our collective, TRUST remains one of the most influential and inspirational labels over the past two decades, consistently challenging and exploring electronic music via output from the likes of Microthol, DJ Stingray, The Exaltics, Versalife, Alex Cortex and many more, dating back to the first DJ Glow release in 1998.

To mark 20 years in existence, the iron-willed TRUST commander DJ Glow / Populist (@gl03) produced a hypnotizing hour of cold, promising and paranoid electronix featuring upcoming music from his own label, Pomelo, Vigram and more.

Back in 2016, I recorded a Matthew Herbert tribute mix, specifically focussing on his Herbert material from the mid to late 90s, a sound that was and still is a huge influence on me and all my pals. 

Recorded live from the KMAH studio in Leeds for my radio show, however the upload has since disappeared from the internet and a few people have asked me to re-up, so here it is... 

The recording quality isn't great due to it being a recovered compressed file, but hope you enjoy :)

A tribute to Herbert (recorded live 2016)

The flight destination is the giant nebula NGC 2014 and its neighbour NGC 2020 which together form part of a vast star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way, approximately 163 000 light-years away.

On this very day, we celebrate our 2,5 year anniversary. We started this journey to create a platform for upcoming artists and to have absolute legends on this series like this man from Dallas. Having shared a stage with the likes of DJ Stingray, Dopplereffekt, Arpanet, Ultradyne, etc while also releasing at labels like CPU Records, Fundamental Records(with Machine Funk Volume 2 on its way), Electro Records(his latest Hologram Killer is an absolute must-have!) and Barba Records (Double LP coming up) it might be a bit of an understatement to say that this man has made quite the name for himself. 

Here are a few words from Cygnus himself about this podcast: "At first I wanted to do a bunch of electro music. And then I thought, “does anyone really feel like dancing right now?” Everybody seems exhausted. I’m exhausted, at least. Maybe someone, at least one person would appreciate a different take on this unusually powerful nightmare we are all watching unfold.
 
So it’s all calm, chill stuff with a spacey vibe. Anyone who knows me really well knows this is my territory. I nearly added the Interlude music from Ghost in the Shell, but didn’t, thinking maybe the copyright police would bomb the DUSK offices in Amsterdam. However, I did record a thunderstorm and added that.
 
These are just things that point our mind inward. Quiet moods, silence, rain, calming voices, I think a lot of the black voices taking the foreground in these past few weeks are very pained, loud, traumatized, hurt voices, and they are very much so a result of the abuse and completely deranged behaviour of elected authorities and police.  But there are more tones to the black voice – there is the deep, warm, calming mood, the ability to calm you down, to help you visualize a better future for yourself, to stop abusing yourself and let your mind calm down. I fear people forgetting that us black people are capable of unimaginable compassion and gentleness in the midst of all this outrage. These are my lone thoughts.  I think it is very good to calm down and let our minds relax.  We don’t have to run away from how we feel all the time either. It’s gonna be okay. Hope you are all well.
